Grinding Online - Hit And Run
July 26, 2010One of the most important differences between live and online play is your time commitment once you sit down at the table. In a live game, whether it is your monthly home game or at a casino, when you decide to play, there is an expectation that you are there for the long haul. This is especially true if you are profitable in the game. Read more

Poker Plays with Pokerpeaker: Taking Advantage of a Scare Card
December 29, 2009As the game gets more aggressive, it's still easy to stick with some basic concepts to pull off bluffs that work. One of the most basic, yet most effective ways to pull off a bluff is to take advantage of a scare card when it hits the board.I've got a pair of 4s in middle position in a six-handed, .25/.50 game on PokerStars. Poker Plays With Pokerpeaker - Why A Small Raise Can Save You Big Money
October 13, 2009Some poker players are afraid to raise unless they have the nuts.Instead, they prefer to call and "control the pot" with hands that can be beaten. But a raise can actually save you more money than calling and controlling the pot when you have a big hand, but a hand that is vulnerable. Poker Plays with Pokerpeaker: Winning A Pot With Middle Pair
October 9, 2009It's possible that no hand is tougher to play after the flop than a middle pair in your hole cards.Oh sure, you can try to hit a set and if you don't, just pitch it. But that's probably not going to be profitable in the long term, given that you won't hit your set very often. Read more

Poker Plays with Pokerpeaker - The Over Bet For Value Can Befuddle Your Opponent
October 8, 2009Sometimes you can fool a decent player with the most basic play that seems more complex than it really is.By now you might have heard of the Over Bet For Value. Poker Plays With Pokerpeaker: Implied Odds Call For Sets and Multi-Way Pots
August 15, 2009Implied odds are a pretty simple concept to understand, but usually they are either excuses to make horrible calls hoping for a miracle hit or worthless because you've already got the pot odds to call anyway. However, there are some instances when it's not only correct to call because of implied odds, it's a mistake if you don't. Poker Plays with Pokerpeaker: Folding An Overpair In A Multi-Way Pot

Poker Plays with Pokerpeaker: Even in a turbo, playing weak Aces will cost you
August 28, 2009I play a home game with friends every few weeks. We play a tournament, and the blind levels burn out faster than a shooting star. Poker Plays with Pokerpeaker: Why Check-Raising Can Cost You Value

Poker Plays with Pokerpeaker: Multi-tabling Can Cost You Value

While his life was tragically cut short, his poker career was no less exciting. Starting over 15 years ago, it seemed Vahedi was always among the top chip stacks in a tournament, most of those in some of the highest buy-ins the game had to offer. Read more
