Jennifer Harman has been an outspoken advocate for the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty toJennifer Harman with a dog Animals (SPCA) in Las Vegas for some time, and she has chosen to host an online charity poker tournament to benefit the organization. The “Animal Lovers” event will take place on Full Tilt Poker on March 16th.

The Full Tilt Poker tournament is a $5 + $5 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament with half of all proceeds going to benefit the SPCA, and the other half going toward the prize pool for participants. It is scheduled to begin promptly at 9pm PST on Sunday, March 16th, and registration is open now. The tournament number is 42450298 and can be found in the “tournaments” tab of the online lobby.

Fellow animal lovers who want to help the cause by participating in the tournament include professional snowboarders Jeff Brushie (SMAKEbreak) and Kris Swierz (WheatSApuff), Olympic medalist and X-Games champion Ross Powers, X-Games gold medalist and world champion wakeboarders Parks Bonifay (pbpbpb) and Danny Harf (d9bigtime), and professional motocross champion Jimmy Button (BTNFLY).

Since Harman is a Full Tilt pro, many of her fellow team members have also pledged to play in the tournament, like Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, John Juanda, Phil Gordon, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Clonie Gowen, Andy Bloch, Mike Matusow, Gus Hansen, Allen Cunningham, and Kristy Gazes. More will be added to the list as they are able to commit.

Along with her husband Marco Traniello, Harman seeks out homes and guardians for dozens of animals each year. They especially support the Nevada SPCA as it is a no-kill animal shelter that has repeatedly fought to save animals from euthanasia by housing and protecting them until they are able to find homes. The animal sanctuary is sadly in need of immediate funding, and Harman stepped in to hold this fundraiser. She held a live charity tournament for the SPCA last year in Las Vegas and raised over $130,000, and she plans to host the second annual event again in the coming months.

“We’re making a difference,” said Harman. “The people at the Nevada SPCA are amazing. They have so much heart. Every penny counts and these fundraisers really work.”

If unable to participate in the tournament on Full Tilt Poker, private donations are welcomed and encouraged through the organization’s website, www.NevadaSPCA.org or by contacting Executive Director Doug Duke at (702) 873-7722.
