PokerStars Sending More than 1000 to WSOP
As has become a habit with PokerStars, the online poker site is leading the way in the poker industry by offering
more seats to the 2008 World Series of Poker main event than any other site. Since 2002, PokerStars has qualified more than 3,600 players for the WSOP main events, and this year it will add more than 1,000 more to that number.Players who win seats on PokerStars will each receive a $12,500 prize package that includes the $10,000 main event buy-in and $2,500 for expenses. In addition, each winner will be given free hotel accommodations at the Palms Hotel & Casino for eight nights (July 2-9) or a cash alternative of $1,000, shuttle bus service to the Rio each day, cash bonuses of up to $50,000 for qualifiers who make a TV table, and additional bonuses of up to $1 million for players who make the final table of the main event.
There are numerous ways to qualify directly. Multi-table satellites are running daily for $33 plus rebuys. There are also $55 quad shootouts, $215 double shootouts, and multi-table tournaments with buy-ins that range from $475 to $1,050. Satellites are available for all of these tournaments, some of which can be entered for as little as $2.
PokerStars is also offering six-tier steps satellites as a way for players to win their seats. The single-table sit-n-go’s start at $7.50, and players who finish in first or second go on to compete in the second step of the satellite program. On it goes up the tiers until a main event seat is awarded at the conclusion of the sixth step.
Players may also use FPP (Frequent Player Points) to buy into any number of the satellites available. With so many ways to win, WSOP hopefuls, on any bankroll, will have their chances to win and compete in the biggest and most prestigious poker tournament on the planet.
