Prevention Connections has joined with the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) to promote its First Annual Texas Hold’em
Charity Tournament in Richmond, Virginia on April 26. All proceeds will go to efforts to prevent and reduce tobacco use through education programs offered by Prevention Connections.
The poker tournament will take place at the Downtown Marriott on Broad Street in Richmond on Saturday, April 26th. For a $500 tax-deductible donation, players will have a chance to win a coveted seat into the $10,000 buy-in 2008 World Series of Poker main event in Las Vegas this summer. The event will provide food for participants, as well as other casino games hosted by the Hooters Girls.
Registration for the event is through online purchase of tickets only, and registration will close on April 22nd. Tickets will not be sold at the door because space is limited. On the day of the event, there will be a morning session and an afternoon session in order to maximize the space and allow as many people to play as possible.
Special rates will be available at the Richmond Marriot for those participating in the charity event.
Prevention Connections is a non-profit organization committed to the prevention and reduction of tobacco use through education, intervention, policy development, and community outreach to improve the health of individuals and communities. In an effort to work on large-scale initiatives, such as reducing smoking on college campuses and providing cessation services to parents of young children, Prevention Connections works with the Virginia Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Virginia Tobacco Settlement Foundation.
