As promised by Jerry Yang when he won the 2007 World Series ofJerry Yang Poker main event, he is giving some of his $8.25 million winnings to charity. On Saturday, March 29th, he will host a press conference and distribution to Feed the Children, a hunger relief organization.

Yang and Larry Jones, Founder and President of Feed the Children, will hold a press conference at 10am at The Foodbank of Southern California, then distribute three semi-tractor-trailers of food and personal care items to families in need. Washington Redskins Safety, Omar Stoutmire, will attend the event as well. A total of 4,000 families will be included in the process, with each receiving a 25-pound box of food and other necessary items. In addition, there will be 1,200 remote control toys – JAKKS Pacific Fly Wheels XPV – with batteries distributed to the children attending the event.

Following the distribution, another seven semi-tractor-trailers will be delivered to Feed the Children partner agencies in the Southern California area – Lotshaw Helping Hands Ministry, St. John Vianney Food Pantry, Cory’s Kitchen, Fred Jordan Missions, and Charity for Humanity.

“We are excited to work with Jerry Yang,” said Jones. “It is so wonderful that Jerry is sharing some of his winnings from the World Series of Poker to make a positive impact in the lives of thousands of people. Jerry’s commitment to helping others will result in the betterment of thousands of children’s lives throughout California.”

Feed the Children was founded in 1979 by Larry and Frances Jones, and it is ranked as one of the ten largest international charities in the United States based on private, non-government support. It is a Christian, international, non-profit relief organization that delivers food, medicine, clothing, and other necessities to individuals, children, and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty, or natural disasters. More information can be found at www.FeedTheChildren.org.

When Jerry Yang, a 39-year old psychologist and social worker from Southern California, won the 2007 WSOP main event, he pledged 10% of his $8.25 million winnings to three charities – Make-A-Wish Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, and Feed the Children. The Laos native is married with six children.
