Each Sunday, Full Tilt Poker holds its $750 Guarantee tournament, and seasoned pros and amateurs
alike register to win a piece of that prize pool. On Sunday, May 4th, one of those pros – Matthew Hilger – took the first place prize of over $132,000.
Hilger is one of the most respected poker authors in the industry, with several books under his belt, including the best-selling “Internet Texas Hold’em.” With the popularity of the book, he subsequently created an online community with poker forums and strategy articles. On the heels of the 2008 World Series of Poker, Hilger hopes to translate his recent online win into one at the WSOP. With three main event cashes in the last four years, he is motivated to begin the Series. “I definitely feel more ready than I ever have as I have played a lot more online than in past years, so I won’t be rusty going into the WSOP. I must also say that working with Rizen, Pearljammer, and Apestyles on the poker hands book has been helpful in simply being able to talk with these guys on a regular basis as well as learning a few tricks here and there by reviewing their manuscript.”
