Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
16th of July is a great day in the annals of poker , as in 1964 a great poker player was born. He is extremely ambitious, cards just love him and his name is Phil Hellmuth – a combination every poker player is dreaming about.Young Phil started playing poker in college, when he was 21. As we know, this addictive game was his calling, so there were no chances for leaving poker world and starting another life. It took less than four years for Phil to turn from the talented player into a real poker giant – he won the World Series of Poker in 1989. Next one and a half decade he was improving his skills and demonstrating a highest-class poker, which helped him to succeed in more WSOP tournaments and become the most successful tournament player in the world.
Of course, great people experience “dark times” too, same with great poker players. Phil Hellmuth had such days and, instead of feeling the world is too tough for a poker player to live, he progressed as a personality and as a player. His ambitions and perfectionism played very important role in that – you must agree that without such qualities you could have broken when you had no money for paying your personal bills.
Nobody is perfect and Phil is just another person in this row. Sometimes, during bad times, he could demonstrate a really bad behavior and the fact is that the majority of people remember him as a bad-mannered person, not as one of the greatest. However, he is a many-sided person and, of course, not as bad as he may seem to be. As Phil says, “sometimes it is hard, but he can always find something good in people eventually”. He believes that his family is much more higher above and even such a wonderful game as poker could never be as important as family is. Of course, Phil respects people who share his opinion about roles of family and poker too. You must agree that people with such philosophy deserve our respect and no matter how do they act at the poker table.
