Blogisphere Changes and Euro Players
I’ve been woefully behind on my blog reading and have been trying to play catch up lately. So put me in the slow group for not posting my official good-bye to Card Squad. I was sorry to see the old girl go down as I have been a reader going back to theirpplayer days.
It was through pplayer that I first met Jen Leo. AndI was perhaps the last blogger on earth to discover that Wil Wheaton wasn’t just a fun, nerdy, poker blogger - but that he was “the” Wil Wheaton. Card Squadhas hosted some great blogging talent and they will be truly missed from theblogishpere rolls.
But as one goes another blossoms. I noticed that Steve Hall, formerly Foiled Coup from LasVegasVegas, has set up new digs over at the HendonMob. For all of you that have missed Steve’s endless supply of scantily clad women and bizarre spinon the poker experience, you can check out his new monthly “vegas insider” featuredhere.

My surfing this week is also taking me to the EPT’s German Open, where I’m followingalong with Nicky O’Donnell and Barry Carter’s entertainingcoverage at PokerNews.com. I got to know a lot more European players by covering the last two years of the WSOP. But there are a lot of fine Euro’s that don’t cross the pond very often, and I figured this would be a good way to add to my European player repetoire. Who knew there was someone with the nickname “Milkybarkid”? Of the players taking the field for Day One, Flight Two today, I recognize Marcel Luske (pictured above after my lesson in wearing sunglasses upside down), the young and charming NoahBoeken, Mickey Wernick (who I spent many hours watching making the final table of the infamous 2005 WSOP Razz event), Juha Helppi (coming off his PartyPoker Premier League win), Roland de Wolfe, Barny Boatman, and Ram Vaswani. I’m sure I’ll recognize more as play is just getting underway.
Nicky and Barry had a long reporting night last night with another long day ahead. My biggest fear is that they will overdose on the Apfelstrudel before the EPT is said and done. Hang in there boyz.
