Blogger Battle and WPT’s New Deal

I was faltering badly on my New Year’s resolution to play more blogger tournaments. Lucky for me,along came the Battle of the Blogger Tournaments to lureme back tothe virtual felt. I missed the first tournament, but I managed to loginto Full Tilt just in time last night to catchthe Mookie. While I hardly won the war – or the battle – or a dime for that matter, I did just manage to sneakpast the points bubble. I’m trying not to hold a grudge against pokerenthusiast, who cracked my jacks (hate ‘em) with his Q-8o – although I see heconfessed hissuckout crime.

Kudos to Miama Don for taking it down last night. And ourown Maudie scored an enviable fourth place finish. What I’d like to know is how Mookie finished in sixth place; every time I looked at the statshe was huggingthe felt. As always,it was great playing among friends again – even ifI did have the ever charming, but always dangerous, Joe Speaker on my left for mostof the night.

And FINALLY, the WPTinked a deal to airits sixth season. This had been driving me batty all week (yeah, I know…short drive). The WPT and Travel Channel had moved out their deadlineto come to terms until April 1st – right away indicating that a change was probably in the wind. But April1stcame and went without an announcement.I had been spending a ridiculousamount of time over the last few days scouting around for any hints of what was going on.Today I hit paydirt. TheTravel Channel decided not to re-up and the WPT announced a new television dance partner:The WPT’s season six will air onGSN, the current home of High Stakes Poker. Seems like a good fit for both companies. Nice hand, gentlemen.

Thanks for joining us last night, it was a lot of fun.

I doubled up every now and then to keep me afloat, but never got a comfortable stack going.

  2. I confess to a blind steal gone lucky. When you pushed I was stuck considering we were both short stacked. It was fun.
