My Day Off From the WSOP
I wish I could say that I spend my days off from the WSOP playing back-to-back drunken tournaments around town until the wee hours. While many of my collegues have the stamina for that, I’m afraid my days off have been tame; like today for instance.ÂÂ
I woke up a whole 20 minutes later than I do on a WSOP work day - which unfortunately for me means 7:20am. I never adjusted to the time change; my inner clock is still doggedly running on central time. Before nine, I had done a load of laundry - ah - clean sheets. While the laundry was in progress, I finished editing and uploading some pictures from yesterday and caught up with the tournament reports from later last night. ÂÂ
I researched where I could get some prints made of photos I had taken of a player who wanted hard copies for his family. In Austin, I have an online account with a local photo shop - but I suspected here I was going to be happy to find a functional Kodak machine. My first stop was a new CVS that just opened near the grocery store. Bingo - brand new machine. I swung through the grocery store for my Vegas staples which include Malibu rum, Fresca, coffee, rice crackers, cheese, tomotoes, and chocolate (not to be consumed simultaneously).
I decided to swing by the Silverton Casino, located just a few miles from where I am staying. I did some research to show that they had a nice selection of full pay video poker machines. My plan was to play until I had won enough to buy lunch. After a couple hours of play, I realized I was going to starve to death - so I took my losses and came back home for an early dinner. After dinner, I cleaned my bathroom.
I’ll spend the rest of my day catching up writing and reading blogs, hopefully putting a few articles in the queue, downloading some photos to clear some hard drive space, keeping tabs on the WSOP action online, and washing my hair.
I wrote this for all my friends that keep telling me how jealous they are of my life in Vegas. When you’re not out here for vacation, life in Vegas is kinda like life anywhere.     ÂÂ

Fresca! I have just recently rediscovered the citrusy goodness that is an ice-cold Fresca.
