Dr Pauly in the Money
I knew Pauly was playing his “A” game, when he slipped me the stealth bird while I took his picture. And damn if the boy isn’t in the money, heading into Day Two.ÂÂ

Day after day of watching pros and strangers cash at the WSOP makes it that much sweeter when you get to watch one of your own. And today is not just Day Two of Pauly’s $1.5K, but it is the start of the $50K H.O.R.S.E. event. Last year this event sucked the energy right out of the rest of the WSOP.  With the big name pros, the largest buy-in, and the most media attention (save for possibly the main event) no one had much left after this event last year. It was like the WSOP black hole; where bankrolls and stamina disappeared forever.
This year the WSOP changed the structure of almost every event. They doubled the starting chip count, but also took out a few levels along the way. This has allowed for more play early, but many of the people in the limit mixed games have contended that it has taken almost all the play out of the back end. The H.O.R.S.E will start with a whopping 100,000 chips. And since not only are all the games are limit - but also includes hi/lo split games, I think we’re off to a very very slow start. My guess is that many of the big names will sleep in for the start and miss close to nothing. ÂÂ
A slow start will be fine by me - as hopefully it will allow me to keep an eye on the good doctor today.    ÂÂ
