HORSE: My ADD Solution
So three days after setting my plan to play PLO8 for the next month I realized, that was never gonna happen. If wanting to put a gun to your head 20 minutes into every session was a sign of tilt, I was there. No patience. No joy. And no payback. I’ve been a little ADD since returning from the WSOP and this wasn’t the game for me right now. And then it hit me: HORSE.
Usually, when I’ve been away from online poker for a long stretch, I go back to my roots. My roots usually involve some form of Omaha or some $5 of $10 NLHE sng action. After seven weeks at the WSOP, I came back and tried to plow right into PLO8; hoping for some instant gratification. Granted, playing the pot limit games during the week days were never that juicy - but for three days these games were dry as a bone. I’ve played a lot of limit games that had more action. I was bored and was playing bored - which means I was fast on my way to donkeydom.
Then yesterday I remembered that I had a whopping $52 in my Full Tilt account. If I ever had visions of a check withdrawal, I had to build that baby up to over $150. I like a challenge. I also like Full Tilt’s HORSE cash games. And what a perfect game for the ADD - a game that changes every round. Granted, with my limited roll, I had to stay in the .25/.50 and .50/1.00 range for awhile.
I like razz, but I’d become as cranky as the people who play it if I played it all the time. If just once a round of razz I can bet out with a scary porch (even though in reality I’m holding two pair) and get bricked players to fold - well that’s just close to heaven. And I do have to pay close attention for stud hi, but even I can focus for a round. I’m not going to make the same mistake and call this a plan. But for my schedule and my frame of mind, HORSE might be where I’m at for the here and now.
Speaking of the here and now - my neteller deposit is here and now! Granted I only had a whopping $150.48 stranded in the ether, but it was sure nice to see it clear. Because neteller never paid interest and I am frugal nit, I never kept a balance in the account. Money came in - money came out. But my last article payment for Woman Poker Player Magazine got deposited right before the sky fell and there it sat. And my plans for my big windfall? I know most of y’all are going to use yours for gambling junkets, parties, and a new wadrobe. But me? I just got back from seven weeks in Vegas. A cheap glass of wine with friends is party enough for me. And I’ve already been to Goodwill since I’ve gotten back and spent all of $6.56 on a new used pair of jeans. So I suspect I’ll use my neteller money to pay for 50 square feet of travertine tile in my latest home remodling project. I guess I’m just going to have to dip into the pocketbook for the remaing 550 square feet.
Maybe, if I eventually cash out $150 from Full Tilt, I’ll party like a rock star - but don’t put your money on it.

Now Shrink, you know Amy was the prototype for Thoroughly Modern Milly. It is well known she is the bee’s knees in party land.
I do share her ADD and have used HORSE in the same way. Although, I’m playing a lot of Stud and Stud8 as a result.
Not sure where you are finding the razz players that will fold. I see them calling with a ’smooth ten’ all the time… lol
