WSOP Main Event Day 1C: It’s Ladies Day at the Rio

It doesn’t look too different than the Ladies Event earlier this year as women seemed to be out in force at the tables today. Women at the poker table have gone beyond being a novelty at the poker table to becoming fierce, competitive players. Men who understimate girls do so at their own peril.

A rundown of some of the ladies in action today:

Beverly Cheney. She was standing up early on, having called an all-in push with A-A vs. her opponent’s 2-2. A deuce flopped, causing her to collect her things, only to see an ace hit the board to keep her alive.

Jennifer Harman Traniello. Her husband Marco is playing today, but I think she’s much less worried about that this year vs. last when she was sweating him a good bit during the World Series. ESPN cameras are trained on her in full force, and this is a hand right before she makes a big laydown with three diamonds on the board and A-K there as well. She bounced her cards into the muck, apologizing while still staring down the bettor. She had such a horrible beat last year to bust out. This is a star studded day, and I’ll get a couple more posts up later today. Thanks for everyone leaving comments and especially emailing me at csquard@gmail.com. Much appreciated.

OMG is Harmon sitting next to the guy who slow-rolled her with a straight fush?
