A Little Down at the WSOP

It’s dinner break here, and I’m a little down sitting in the Media Room alone.  There are several piles of sandwiches, but it looks like folks are fed up with that (I am).  I had a voice mail from Sweetie and the Little Guy, and they had gone up to a neighbor’s house in the mountains north of G-Vegas because there was a bear caught in a trap.

Anatomy of a Suckout

I’ve been in a bit of a daze for the last hour or so after watching just a brutal hand.  Jason Strasser had a great stack, up to around $700k.  With blinds at $2.5k/5.0k with $500 antes, he raised to $15k, and Matt Wilson reluctantly folded in the big blind.

CC, the Soothsayer: The Moves Start Quickly

Look, I don’t mean to be sounding like a smarty-pants, but I told you so!  Incredibly, we’ve lost 100 of the 481 players in the first two hours.  Major moves with Alex Balandin chip leader closing on $1M, David Chiu right there.  I’m not sure what everyone did last night, but they must have all just practiced saying all-in.  With the M’s so low for so many players, this was bound to happen.  But it’s been incredible to watch. The Story Behind the Story: The Field Catches Up

Dmitry Nobles stayed in the top three in chips, but the story unfolding is getting more and more complex.  Phil Hellmuth said that David Chiu is playing really well, and he’s put himself in great shape to make a seriour move on Saturday.  When you look at what happened yesterday, it’s hard to really understand it unless you take a few steps back.
