Wow! Jamie Gold Clocks Richard Lee

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

Just incredible, raise from Richard Lee, reraise by Jamie Gold to $4M, Richard shoves his last $17M, then Gold instacalls. Jacks by Richard Lee, Queens by Jamie Gold. 3dKdKs6h10c, and what does Jamie Gold sit on, $50M? $55M?

Richard Lee, successful businessman, family man, out in 6th.  He seems to be a very, very good guy, someone you’d want to have around for sure.  He was the only player without a poker logo adorning his wardrobe, only San Antonio’s name on his sweatshirt.

Doug Kim Out

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

9’s after a baby flop runs into Queens of Paul Wasicka, and Doug is out in 7th.  He’s been an everyman of the college generation, not a wunderkind like Jeff Madsen or Jason Strasser but more like a normal achieving student who also happens to be a degenerate college poker player.

Jamie Gold’s Second Scalp

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

Update: 6:20PM

Jamie Gold is sick. Just after Michael Binger moves in with kings vs. Gold’s kings for a chopped pot, Allen Cunningham raises to $700k, Doug Kim calls, then Jamie Gold folds but accidentally shows Ac-10s. The flop: Jd-Qs-Kh. Allen bets $500k, and Doug folds, and everyone is glad Gold mucked before the flop.  Folks in the house:  Jennifer Tilly and Phil Laak just sneak into the room.

We’ve Begun, and Post Eaten

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

Update: 4:10PM

Poker glitterati in the house: Negreanu (on the radio currently), Ferguson, Raymer, Hachem, Williamson, Bigler. Jeff Madsen just booted from the Media section, John Juanda in the bleachers. Juanda’s head sits atop a giraffe neck, and his eyes dart just like he was playing. Allen Cunningham’s big pot lost to Jamie Gold on trip 9’s is the hand of the day so far. Allen limped with something worse than 10-9 that Gold had with trip 9’s, as the board sat at 9-9-8-5-A. Maybe 9-7 suited?  SWAG ALERT:  leave a comment and email me at csquard@gmail.com for the PartyPoker t-shirt they left for the media.
Jamie Gold still playing alot of pots, getting away from pots when he should and going after pots when he should.
