With the passing of PartyPoker from the American landscape, the emerging leaders of online poker are clearly FullTilt and PokerStars. What has also emerged is largely the disappearance of the mid-stakes limit holdem game. As this is my bread and butter, it is a concern for me.

I’m sitting at a $0.10/0.25 NLHE $25-max table this morning at FullTilt when I start getting flamed, and so the question comes: should you join in and defend yourself, add fuel to the fire, or ignore it all?

More like remembered how to play, I guess.  I folded my way to +$607.55 playing $10/20 HORSE and $15/30 LHE on PokerStars.  I made one major error doing another PLO experiment (I’d built $10 into $100) by catching the second nuts on a checked board then paying off the nuts which had been flopped.  Omaha is a game of the nuts often, so you can’t do stupid things like that.

After getting rid of $1.4k of my bankroll, I decided it was time for me to punish myself.  I’d been reading about an exercise that Kurosh did earlier this year where he would take a sponsor for $50, then min buy-in at a LHE table, then keep building and doing that to see if he could turn a $1k profit, splitting the upside with the sponsor.  I decided to try PLO on FullTilt, but the only table open was a No Limit Omaha table.

A horrendous day yesterday of casual poker, that’s a whopping $1.4k down in a few hours.  It was just dreadful to go through, and it’s a tired act to be honest with you.

I had a brutal run Friday afternoon on FullTilt, moving up $200 in $8/16 razz only to burn through $400 or so with two monster hands where guys caught me with runner-runner hands. All of that to say I dumped a cool $650 only to fight back hard to get only down $300.

With so much battering us today just trying to get to the felt, it is becoming easier to get put on tilt. Tilting isn’t the big problem for most of us; it’s getting through without going busto that’s the bigger problem.

I’ve only done this a couple times in my time playing poker, trying to purposely put someone on tilt. I don’t believe this is unethical, but should this be part of your arsenal?
