Live Blogging: FullTilt and Multitasking

I’m donking around on FullTilt while working away as well. I have a telecon in the next bit, so I figured why not live blog a bit?

9:11 I’m playing PLO8 at the $0.05/0.10 stakes (Washburn table). Stacked a guy who made a wacko raise with A568 rainbow and caught 88 on the flop, but I’ve clawed back to even.

UPDATE 9:15 I checked with 5-10-J-J with two hearts (six in pot), flop came 5-5-10 with two clubs, I checked, UTG bet $0.10, caller, earlier maniac raised, I potted and the UTG called (maniac got out). UTG had 9-Q-6-4 with two clubs and was drawing dead with the 9-3 turn and river for no low. Thought I had the maniac on the next hand until he luckboxed the low on the river to split the pot. I’ll get him yet…

UPDATE 9:30 I’m not quite sure what the point of playing at these micro limits are, but I’ll often do this while I’m working. I probably have another thirty minutes before making my call regarding some projects for the rest of the year. I haven’t progressed very far on my new business development work, which is not a very good thing for me. If I could figure out how to do it, I could have a very productive existence which would include marketing my company, doing client work, poker, writing, and working with the kids. I’m still not there yet. I’m guessing I’m at about 20% efficiency with my time, but that could be an overstatement. I was supposed to interview in Dallas with a headhunter (VP of Strategic Marketing job at one of my clients), but my client told him I was overqualified for the position. I’m up to $14.55 now at the PLO8 table, and owl with knees is ranting about another guy that we finally got rid of (the maniac) who kept catching one-outters on the owl. I’m not quite sure how you can get upset playing PLO8 as everyone will catch everything.

UPDATE 10:00 Monster thread on 2+2 started by Jason Strasser saying he was heading to the world of trading/Wall Street instead of heading to the world of poker. 300 replies and counting (if you have time to read it).

UPDATE 10:05 Opened a $3/6 HORSE table on PokerStars. Laura IV is the table. I have to be very careful to remember what game I’m playing where. Probably not the best thing to do, but I’m doing it. PLO8 down to $11.60 as I can’t get anything to hit. Mainly just fold, fold, fold then limping in occasionally.

UPDATE 10:15 Played my first HORSE hand (stud) with 789. J came next but I eventually bailed. Accidentally called a few hands later when my straight and flush again didn’t make it (this time in stud H/L). Thought I was checking, so bye-bye $6. I think Stud H/L is my worst HORSE game, although it could be all of them. I tend to chase alot more and lose with 5th-best hands too often. Need to make my phone call here shortly, so I may take a break in a bit. Couple of bad hands and my PLO is down below my buy-in for the first time in awhile (nut flush draw vs worse flush draw and a set of queens), while nothing happening at HORSE. The criteria for people to type “nh” seems to be quite wide. Basically, it seems that when folks flop a monster, then it is a nice hand.

UPDATE 10:30 My friend, holdem, got me back even in HORSE. Capped pot pre-flop from sb with two others (As-7s), flop comes A-7-6, Q on turn, 6 on river (AK was villain). I’ll take it, that’s for sure. We’ve switched to Omaha and the table has dropped to five-handed, so I may have to take a break and go to my call. Ended HORSE up $30 or so, maybe $35.

UPDATE 11:00 Took a break, made my call (he’ll call me back), chatted with Sweetie a bit. We’re headed to London for Thanksgiving, the five of us, on British Airways. They have a super sale that ends tomorrow (I think). $475/ticket round trip from Atlanta-London (half of the cost is fees and taxes). We’re taking the three boys as our friends from the street now live in London (UPS’ers). Two of their kids are All-In and the Big Guy’s age (8 and 11) plus a kindergarten boy and a girl who must be 13 or so now. Anyone with ideas for day trips with kids, email me at csquard@gmail.com or post a comment. I’d like to go somewhere else for two days/one night so we can be out of there hair a bit. Got down a bit on a new $3/6 HORSE game then caught a flush on the first five cards in the stud H/L round (grabbed the low as well, although I doubt it was needed). That put me up a bit at this table, so I’ll keep cranking until I get my call. azynbeauty is at the table, and I think she (he) gets a bit aggressive at times. She’s down to $60 or so, so she could be on a bad run.

UPDATE 11:55 I had my call, directed to come back with next steps although as always with this client we’re not going to do things properly. Redesigning their website without having a kick-off meeting, so I have to come up with questions for them to answer. That plus some additional projects should be a nice chunk of work through the end of the year, but it’s tough for them to get out of their own way. Back to HORSE, I got stuck for about $60 then won a three-way raised and reraised pot with the nut flush in Omaha (no low) and am back up a bit. Maniac table playing and betting everything, so there could be a nice chunk of change to have here.

UPDATE 12:15  A made straight on fourth street (is that what the fourth card up is called?) gets me all square, then chasing my straight and flush gets me two pair to get upper even still.  Just read a long Pauly post, a classic that will get everyone riled up and talking for sure.  I need to study on it to respond, but definitely head over.  I’ve got Corinne back on the headphones, but I need to head to lunch alone (pizza:  jalapenos, sausage, and pepperoni, two slices in the fridge).  Thanks for all the railbirds and emails you’ve sent today.  You can always email me at csquard@gmail.com if you like.

In the last week and a half, I’ve won $200 on Bodog playing nothing but .5/.10 NLHE and $8 beginnier tournaments (five places pay instead of three). Idiots, what the hell calls (it’s only $5!) from others (and me a couple times) and the ability to limp into a LOT of pots equals lots of money.

Low stakes can be not only fun but profitable.
