Topsy Turvy Weekend

I had a brutal run Friday afternoon on FullTilt, moving up $200 in $8/16 razz only to burn through $400 or so with two monster hands where guys caught me with runner-runner hands. All of that to say I dumped a cool $650 only to fight back hard to get only down $300.

I am committed to being a winner at FullTilt, although it hasn’t been easy. I have never cleared a bonus plus been a winner while doing it, and I’m currently in the same boat there. FullTilt releases their bonus $20 at a time, which is a great way to go about things. I’ve cleared $120, so I’m actually down around $470 or so during my time there following last night’s play.

Last night was the inagural MiamiDon’s Big Game, a $69 buy-in tourney with double stacks. I caught a brutal first hand against Waffles, as I raised it up to $125 with As-10h and he called, flop came 10-2-6 all spades. I was in early position and bet $275, he min raised me, I shoved, and he called with 2-2 for a set of deuces. 4s gave me the flush and Ac kept his set intact. I didn’t put him on a set there, which was my bad, but I was trying to get him off of any significant hand as I thought with the deeper stack he could lay down overpairs. I held the chip lead for awhile then stayed in the top three or so, but it was a tough event. Iak and I stayed at the same table for quite awhile, which was interesting to watch, to follow someone for that long. He played very well, as did several others. My tourney game was pretty rusty, although I laid down too many hands I believe (TripJax raised me out of my pots twice with his hammer). I was especially pulling for kat as we got down to two tables. I misplayed a key hand waiting for the final table and was in 8th chip position when we made the final table. I’ll let you decide if I misplayed the second hand, my busto hand. Blinds were $250/500 (I was sb) with $50 ante, and I had $5,480 after putting in my sb. I get 88, and Iak raises to $1,800 in the CO with lucko21 moving all-in with his monster $36k stack. I called as I figured here was a great chance to more than double up and give me a fighting chance at this thing. 1st was over $1k, and I wasn’t going to get there by waiting around. Iak folded and lucko flipped over As-Qc. The flop of 2h-10s-3s was great, but I hated the Ks on the turn. I stared quite awhile at the Jd on the river which dashed my hopes. Congrats to lucko for riding that big stack to victory.

I’ve been working on a few things with the PokerWorks guys, and one of which I’m announcing today. It’s a new tourney on Thursday’s, the CC Thursday Bash on PokerStars. PokerWorks is going to contribute some cash to the first events, although I’m still trying to figure out how to do that. It will either be bounties, added funds to the prize pool, or some combination of the two. The WWdN: Not The Thursday event has struggled for players, so I’m hoping another Thursday event might work well for both. Anyways, pimp away and I look forward to joining you in a few weeks.

Busy week this week, so I’m off to the grindstone after a late shower. Later.

gg man. I think I took the beat fairly well knowing my hot naturedness.. lol. Hopefully no offence anyways. Anyway.. was dissapointing going out first hand but you had a decent hand and backup outs if you missed.. now lucko was just riddiculous, lol. I guess what I didnt get was the push so early with a decent amount of chips.. would have respect a call that turned your flush a little more.. but I guess you can not blame someone for making an aggressive move in poker. gl. I also suppose I will take the mad disrespect I get at every one of these games.. everyone always says: Didnt put Waffles on that strong of a hand.. very amusing..

No offense at all, Waffles. It was indeed a very rough way to go out, and I felt disappointed that you were on the other end. “…I will take the mad disrespect I get at every one of these games…”, I do think that is a significant part of your game that I assume serves you well (I don’t play enough with you to fairly comment on any big observations, but I do believe that your table image is that of the tilty maniac (at least in these blogger tourneys). That may not be the case for those who know you, but it was for me for sure and definitely led to my shove and to the comment. I think that’s a very good thing as it should get you paid off on hands like that first one, which you did indeed get paid off on then got chased down by my flush.

Regarding the comment about the push so early with a decent amount of chips, I do agree that it was a poor shove that worked out. I didn’t like the table with you, Iak, Joe Speaker, and others, so it may have been that I either wanted to take this pot away from you, double up, or leave. I definitely assumed people would be playing slower with the deeper stacks, and I didn’t want to do that. I may have slowed down some afterwards due to the shock value of donking you out and feeling the peer pressure of a poor play. I don’t know if that’s the case or not. I’d like to think I had the insight and wisdom of Hoy when I make decisions, but unfortunately that is not the case (see AA cracked today by J-10o when he called my pre-flop raise then bet into a 7-8-9 flop with two clubs on board).

Maybe one of these days we’ll both be there at the end after a long battle, that would be great.

I don\’t know if I\’ll make your first tournament as that will be the day after my move, which sucks….I hope so but we\’ll see. Good idea though and I would love to play with you soon.

Yeah, Kat did well and I feel bad about her exit. Rough way to go. She blistered every one of my 5K+ chips in a mere two hands. Blah. And as for your Aces getting cracked? They only hold up when you\’re severely short-stacked and get them twice in a row…haha…don\’t remind me. I\’ll try to make it out on that Thursday if I don\’t go BUSTO by then.

Love the tourney banner…blogger tourneys popping up everywhere. Great idea and the time is perfect, giving everyone a tourney to play while waiting for the Not.
