Tea in the Sahara

LIVE BLOGGING BELOW: George Washington et al must have known something about the tyranny of the British, or at least what it would become in two hundred plus years. How much does it cost to take three adults and six boys for tea and crumpets?

£35, or almost seventy bucks! I’m sure there are bargains galore in the Kingdom, but the cost of finding them may outweigh the value received. The Little Guy and I took a nap on the sofa yesterday afternoon, his face planted squarely next to what I think they refer to as my bum. There was a good chance that he would be gassed but he made it through unscathed. We walked a few blocks to the local tea shop where our six boys made a total mockery of proper decorum. It seems that young British lads typically aren’t in a tea shop, I guess training in their hooligan boot camps and what not. Our boys wrote various messages on the dew-covered windows, and the Little Guy screamed constantly because his marshmallows were either too melted or too firm. Hot chocolate was the order of the day rather than tea.

I devoured spaghetti (mine plus two of the boys’ noodles with more sauce), so I was ready to settle into bed after everyone was down. The Little Guy was supposed to sleep with J, the resident six year old (C is eight like All-In, and K is eleven like The Big Guy). Instead, he was between Sweetie and me. We all zonked out after a bit of bed jumping, and I got a nice nine hours or so. Mr. J, the head of the household, came home after I was asleep and left before I awoke, so no luck in seeing him.

We’re heading to Windsor Castle for the day today. Pinky, a poker blogger I tried to connect with the last time I was here, has reached out to me if I make it to the Gutshot. I hope I can, although I’m not quite sure what the likely date would be. Tonight would probably be the best night to try although we’ll have to see how the day goes. Yesterday was gorgeous here as is today, so my luck is riding high. I’ll check back after Windsor Castle.

9:25AM Eastern I have to leave quickly, but I finally found a Starbucks so I could pay $20 for wireless access for the day. Here are a few pictures from the Windsor Castle day.
