Valentine’s Day Winner

Thanks to everyone for the emails responding to Why I love my spouse/partner.

The winner is from Doog with runners up from skidoo and Mercury74.

You know that feeling you get when you’re looking at a preflop raise and caller and you squeeze your cards and peek down at those lovely pocket Aces?  It’s kind of like that, an insanely pleasurable rush.

You know that feeling you get when you reraise and get a couple of callers, and then you flop top set on a semi-coordinated board, and you bet and get multiple callers?  It’s kind of like that, a gut-checking thrill.

You know that feeling when the turn brings the case Ace for the immortal nuts, and both opponents push all-in on you, and you felt multiple players with your DQB?  It’s kindof like that, sweet victory with a pinch of fulfillment tossed in.

You know that feeling when that very same scenario plays out on each and every hand, and the only way not to win every hand is to stop playing?  What?  Really?  You don’t?

Well, I do.  That’s the feeling I get every morning when I wake her up for her good morning kiss.  Just.  Damn.  Lucky.

I love my wife for many reasons, mostly she challenges me. I can honestly say that my wife is one of the most directed, intellectual and honest people I have ever met.  My wife inspires me and drives me. She constantly challenges my actions and directions in a positive way. She is truly the only woman I have been with that made me THINK.  The latest example I can think of is when we went to something called ‘Married Life’. We had some mutual friends in the neighborhood who have been in the past and loved it. In short its a marriage seminar wrapped in shiny clothes. We spent most of the time passing notes to each other.Trying to crack each other up. The moral of the event is that women need love and men need respect. Which we greeted with a collective ‘duh’.  Marriage is a partnership, a business, and a pact. I am truly lucky to have found someone who practices our relationship with both emotional and practical means.

It is really pretty simple.  She is someone that will open up to me her inner most feelings and I can do the same with her.  When you find that situation you are in love and she is in love with you.

Hope everyone can join us tonight for CC’s Thursday Bash on PokerStars.  I had a very productive day yesterday after my first all-night sleep in several weeks.  I ended up sneaking out of bed around midnight to keep working, then opened up a $15/30 table on Stars.  After getting stuck almost $700, I decided I had to make a stand and clawed my way back to a +$164 session.  I’ll take it.  If you haven’t checked out Haley’s Anatomy of a Cybersquatter, please head there and do.  Alot of work from a tireless lady.  I’m a big fan, and you should be too.  Have a great day.

See, I knew my answer wouldn’t be good enough. But here I am, a day late and a dollar short, as it were.

"I love my wife because she’s the only person I know brave enough to wash my socks.
    And my underwear.
She’s the only woman in North Carolina that would willingly cart my drunken ass around town to party with Daddy on a Thursday night.
No matter how many times I fart in bed and throw the covers over her head, she still hasn’t murdered me.
Even when I leave my plates beside the computer long enough to make Louis Pasteur fascinated in what’s growing on them, she still puts up with me.
And last but not least, I love me wife because she understands that yes I DO have to have the remote ALL THE TIME."

Have fun tonight at the Bash, I’ll be in a theatre light booth watching modern dance.

I now understand fully how he became Falstaff.

    BURP!

  3. Doog Says:

Well hot damn, I really didn’t think I was actually gonna win with that back-of-the-napkin hallmark cheese-fest. Score one for mushy sentimentality. Which, after all, is the whole purpose of VD.

In any case, unfortunately I have unavoidable plans this evening (like I said, I really didn’t think I was gonna win anything…). Would you be so kind as to grant a rain check for next week’s CCTB? If not, please pass along my prize to the next guy in line.

    Thanks!

    Doog
