A Day Off, Kind Of
I had a very busy day of work with my day job, and with PokerWorks down for the count yesterday, I didn’t come into the Rio.

I was up early doing day-job work, trying to get a website redesigned, dealing with shipping errors for some printing done for a client. Not fun, and I was scrambling for most of the day. I can tell you I didn’t mind being away from the Rio for a bit, and with the PokerWorks problems, I couldn’t post my HORSE wrap-up.
I’ve always like Freddy Deeb from High Stakes Poker. After Gabe Kaplan didn’t make it through to the Final Table, I wanted either Deeb or John Hanson to take it down. I don’t know much about Deeb, but he’s now jumped up a few notches on the totem pole.

I played at Red Rock for the first time yesterday, just a little $1/2 NLH to pass the early evening. It was a limper’s paradise, and raises normally didn’t drive anyone out of a pot. I ended up $170 but was working on the big stack, trying to get a big chunk of change from him. Several poor players overplayed their big hands as you would expect when you allow five to see a flop.

MeanGene had spent his day off on the Strip, and we met at the Mirage to eat dinner at Carnegie Deli. So very, very good. I took half my sandwich home plus a bit of strawberry cheesecake. I normally go to Stage Deli if I’m in New York rather than Carnegie Deli (just a bit less crowded). Tonight, I’m meeting Fuel and some of his buddies at Smith & Wollensky, another New York landmark. It is a great, great steak, and I’ll try to limp along until dinner.
I’ll do the drawing for the winner of the Pimp CC contest today and post later what they receive. Check back tonight when I post this. It’s a zoo here as the last $1.5k event is going on, and supposedly a Day 1D has been added to the Main Event (meaning Quest of a Closet Poker Player › Create New Post — WordPressthere could very well be over 8,000 players this year). I’ll post something once I get confirmation.
