Bye-Bye Bubbles

Fifteen hands over seventy-five minutes, we’re in the money at the WSOP Main Event.

I chatted it up on the rail with Sam Simon, creator of “The Simpsons” and Norm Macdonald as I waited for the bubble to burst.  I was watching Simon’s table as it went crazy, John Laurence going out four from the money with pocket aces cracked by the ATL’s own Gregory Owen with Kh-Qh.  You know the drill, heart on the flop, heart on the turn, heart on the river.   Macdonald was pretty fascinated by the whole scene.

I got a comment from Liz Lieu on my MySpace site.  I’d seen a link on her MySpace site to the article I’d done and to my blog, so I thanked her again.  I never go to MySpace, just started the site so I could see what it is since I’m an old fart.  Liz is a sweetheart.

When we were hand for hand, I told Chad Brown about the dream I’d had the third or fourth night of the World Series.  I’d avoided him until then, but they were six from the money and he looked happy, so I figured whatever.  Anyways, in the dream, I shoot him in self defense.  The next day, I’m at a tournament waiting to play, Jennifer Harman comes up to me about to burst into tears, I say, “You don’t think I should play, do you?” She shakes her head no, then bursts into tears and walks away.  “Well, I hope it doesn’t come true,” he said.  So that was pretty nice of him vs. having me arrested.

Jack Effel made the best ruling of the tournament, adding an hour at the 2k/4k with 500 ante level.  They played fifteen hands over seventy-five minutes, so doing this prevented basically skipping a level.
