Quest of a Closet Poker Player

I reached PlatinumStar VIP on PokerStars this weekend but reached it by erasing all my winnings from the month.

I had a rough last few sessions where I don’t feel I played particularly well.  Twice I checked sets on the turn hoping to see the raiser bet; twice he checked, and twice he caught the river third card for a runner-runner flush.  I just love to be tricky and seem to love to get the big score more so than the good pot.  I jumped up once to play $3/6 early in the downswing when this hand occurred.

I’m still doing a terrific job of bankroll management, as I dipped barely under $4k for the first time in several weeks.  I’m using $4k as sort of my zero level and trying to build from that.  It definitely has changed my outlook on online poker vs. thinking I have $4k to play with.

Sweetie and I had a great 24 hours to ourselves Friday night.  We stayed at the W Hotel, and she received a tote bag and a towel that has a zipper pouch at the end of it.  We received them as part of the package, and she loved that as much as any gift probably.  I offered to take her to Nordstrom’s or the mall to shop for clothes, and she vehemently declined.  We also decided we want a new bed for our anniversary.  She slept on my side of the bed and woke up with a backache, so she now thinks my backaches may not be just in my head.  I was ready to take her to look at beds, but she said she didn’t want to go to a furniture store or bed store.  If we rode by a store and there was a bed on the sidewalk, she might consider stopping.  From what little I’ve learned about bed retail, that cuts the options down considerably.  I’ve decided to look for a good sleeping bag for myself instead.

We saw Becoming Jane at the movie Friday night.   For the male readers:  if you have a girlfriend or are married, this is absolutely a no-brainer before football season kicks off.  It’s a movie about Jane Austen as a young woman, falling in love vs. marrying someone with money who doesn’t turn her on.  Sweetie, who admittedly is a big-time movie crier, cried for probably half the movie.  I’m also a crier but didn’t tear up on this one, but it is a movie that gives instant brownie points.  Go see it.

Of course, no hotel away would be complete without love-making, and it was another stellar performance by CC.  Back home Saturday night, I’d fallen asleep with The Little Guy then woke up around 10:00.  I headed to bed hoping I could stay asleep, but Sweetie wanted to go for the trifecta.  I was able to think about random current events to prolong the intimacy, but then had a complete abdominal muscle cramping after fulfilling our ________ so to speak.  I’ve read most women want cuddling after intercourse, and I must attest that they don’t seem to want their lover to scream and moan as his abs go into convulsions.  Come to think of it, the lover doesn’t particularly enjoy it either.

Some people say they like my blog because I’m open with my life.  I’m not sure what they mean exactly.
