Shhhhhh…

Don’t look now, but I’ve made up my September loss and now sit above $4k on Stars.

I haven’t played much after reaching PlatinumStar for the second month in a row, but it was enough to sneak up to $4,016 from $3500 or so I had after September. This weekend looks like minimal play as I have The Big Guy’s birthday tonight (taking him, All-In, and two of his friends to Medieval Times), soccer at 8:00 tomorrow (friends are on the team), In-Law’s arriving today, and Sweetie’s best friend heading in tomorrow.

As I left the ATL airport last night around 11:00, a clack-clack-clack sound started from the car. It wasn’t exactly like a flat time, more like something was caught in the tire and kept hitting the car. I slowed down, the sound slowed. I pulled off and checked, but no flat. I tried to continue, but the sound came back immediately. I headed to an Exxon station which had a homeless guy sweeping up and the cashier behind a locked door in the convenience store part of the station. For some reason, I handed the homeless guy my car keys, he then diagnosed that my tread was coming off, he changed the tire, and I gave him $40 for his trouble. I’m not quite sure why I did any of that (besides changing the tire). Somewhere between reckless, compassionate, and foolish, I’m not sure which.

My trip to Pittsburgh was successful, and I should have more work in the coming weeks from that. I also head to Las Vegas 16-18 October. I have one very important meeting plus a trade show I’ll be attending. Caesar’s and Binion’s are both having tourneys while I’m there, so I may sneak over for that.

Other random topic:  stocks.  Best stocks for me this year:  AAPL, IDXX, HON.  Worst stocks:  KG (thanks, Schwab ratings), SMRT.  Overall holdings:  +22% this year.  We moved everything to Schwab accounts, and I’ve been actively investing.  Not day-trading, but a few trades a month (5-15 probably).  I so wish I would have done this many, many years ago (thanks Prudential Financial broker/friend for advising me to hold on to SEBL; I rode her from $8 to $100 back to $10 in 2001…).

Just ran the extra $6 up to $18.55 (above the $4k), so the roll continues. Have a great weekend.
