I rushed down to hit the Mook when Sweetie decided to hit the bed early. One of the frustrating things about FullTilt is they don’t allow any late registration for tourneys, not even one second. As I reached the table, my computer said 9:59 but the table said Seating. Seating means no registration, and I was out. I decided to head to PokerStars for a session that became a very, very late one. I had many tough tables, going down a buy-in here or there. Table Philocetes was a different matter altogether. When I signed off early this morning, I had $1,414.20 sitting in front of me at this $1/2 NLH 6-max table.
It was a doozie of a session, and I can only think of what might have been had I been the least bit fortunate at any of the other tables. 654 hands/23.55/11.62/+$1,190.20. I was helped along in the early stages by focusing on pool_shark_1. He played the first 160 hands with me, and his stats were pretty brutal: 160 hands, 50.00/24.38/-$768.30. By the time he busted for the last time, I was up to $485.95.
The table eventually became a revolving door of players as they all took shots at attacking the big stack. Here’s how it became pretty big.
Hand #1 This hand almost tilted me as I kicked myself for the next hour regarding this laydown. I finally decided he had the nuts in this spot after the turn raise, but maybe that is stupid.

Hand #2 I’d gotten very lucky to get this back about four orbits later, getting it all in on the flop with Ad-Qd on a Ac-8d-4d flop against Ah-Kh in a battle of the blinds (I’d raised pre-flop from the small blind). My diamond hit on the river, hoping to get the momentum started again. I won a few small pots, including checking down trip 7′s after catching them on the flop. I sometimes have gone into a very passive mode, and it seems to get me easy pots when I’m doing it right (able to bet at pots with nothing and take them). I went over a hundred hands doing almost nothing, tons of folding with the occasional pot thrown in. I got a shortie out with this hand to get above $700.

For the session, I played a total of fourteen tables. I only had two other winning tables, and I still struggle with table selection and what to do with losing tables. I think I stick around way too long, but I’m not sure. I’d be interested in what you do. Even with that sort of struggle at the other tables, I was up for the day.
I also am 123 FPP points away from getting the Sony 40″ LCD TV. I for one am very happy to be focusing solely on PokerStars. Need to get to work now. Thanks for dropping by and for all the support.
Man, I don’t like check-fold in Hand 1. Your opponent’s raise on the turn doesn’t look like a flush draw to me, so I would have called on the river, expecting to see the ignorant end of the straight. It just doesn’t make sense to bet out and call a raise on the turn, but then fold when you hit your straight on the river.
I also don’t like cold calling with QJo from the big blind against a button steal raise, but that’s kind of a matter of style.
Hand 5: Cold-calling a raise from the small blind with A5s can get you into trouble.
The other hands: Payday!
