Barack Obama Plays Poker

I knew there was a reason I liked this guy, apart from his charisma, winning smile, and stance on health care.

Barack Obama plays poker. And according to the guys in his game, he was pretty good.

“He had the stone face,” said Senator Terry Links, who hosted weekly poker games at his home. “He didn’t stay in hands if he didn’t think he had a chance of winning.”

This was also confirmed in a report by CNN’s senior political correspondent, Candy Crowley. I happened to have my camera sitting next to me when I saw the piece:

I haven’t jumped on the Obama bandwagon yet, though I do like the guy and think he’s an articulate, emotional speaker. I’m still considering all the candidates (except for the obviously facist ones), though the fact that he shares my affinity for slinging cards warms my blackened little heart.

Tell your pals in Congress it’s a skill game, Obama. A skill game.

He had a speech that talked about the waste of the Iraq war. To paraphrase: he decried the billions spent. He said we could have spent it on the various areas of the country and new programs.

I would love to hear a politician talking about returning something to the economy or fixing social security. Our economy is the basis for all we have and are. Stealing excessively from the economy becomes a Dutch Boyd act when the end is reached.

I don’t have to worry about that. It can’t get screwed up to that level in my time left. You folks are a lot younger and need to think about it.

I’ve a blog that’ll be up about all this in a few days.

Read his book, then you’ll let the bandwagon go by.
    And Happy Saint Valentine’s Day.
