Change100 at PokerWorks

Listen up, L.A. poker players. Live WSOP satellites are on their way to Hollywood Park next month– and that makes this poker degenerate all twisty and giddy. These $45+5 shootout satellites will award a $1,500 WSOP preliminary event buy-in plus $500 in cash to the winner. The twist? They will be run in their ePoker room on HPC’s bevy of electronic PokerPro tables.

I was at the opening of the ePoker room back in October and a whole bunch of us bloggers got to try out the heads-up and full ring PokerPro tables at a special presentation by PokerTek that coincided with the WPBT Las Vegas trip in December. After my experience at Hollywood Park, I wrote this last fall on Pot Committed about what I thought might be a good use for this new technology:

Several people commented how great it would be to use these tables for satellites to live events and I totally agree. Personally, I avoid the $40 crapshoot satellites to the $200 and $300 events at HPC because they’re just that. If you don’t pick up a big hand and double up in the first 10 minutes or so, you’re pretty much toast, but the PokerPro table’s ease and speed of play could really transform the live satellite experience.

The $50 shootouts will run every weekend in April and I’m sure I’ll play at least one. Times are as follows:

Fridays @ 12 PM & 3 PM
Saturdays @ 10 AM & 1 PM
Sundays @ 2 PM: Final Table Shootout
