New WSOP Events include Triple Draw, PLO8, S.H.O.E.

Harrah’s rolled out their schedule for the 2007 World Series of Poker today, which includes a slew of changes in terms of tournament selection and variety. Last year’s NLHE-fest has been greatly diversified to include over a dozen new events. They’re also promising enough space for 300 tables in one room, increasing the player capacity to 3000 (up from about 2300 this year). 55 bracelets will be awarded in all, up from last year’s 46.

Mon dieu! EPT Deauville Cancelled

John Caldwell just reported over at PokerNews that the European Poker Tour has cancelled its planned third-season stop at the French Poker Open in Deauville, France. The tournament was to take place at the Deauville Casino from February 20-24, 2007 and culminate in an $8,000 main event. Continue reading

The Poker Diet

So I played a bunch of online poker this weekend while International Man of Mystery Dr. Pauly cruised across the International Date line on his way to Melbourne, Australia to cover the Aussie Millions. He’ll not only be writing, but co-hosting a daily radio program with AussieSchecky, and lord only knows what trouble those two can get into on-air. I’m not sure of the air times in the U.S. yet, but I’ll post them as soon as I hear more.

Shuffle Up and Deal

I don’t make New Years’ resolutions, but at this time last year, while still ensconsed in my fancy Beverly Hills office, I did set a goal for myself to write more in 2006 despite the severe time-suckage my film exec job required of me.

4 weeks later, I got fired. And now, eleven months later, writing is pretty much what I do. It is my present and my future. It’s probably what I always wanted to do with my life, but it took getting thrown off the corporate merry-go-round when I least expected it to get me to wake up.
