I’m a Donk!
Well I sure can be, as we all can from time to time. Most players take a shot at a miracle every now and then. The difference is donks chase a miracle hand after hand…
Funny thing is I wasn’t chasing a miracle, and was called a donk, lol. It was in the 25c/50c Stud8 game. The game was 5 handed and there was a human ATM in the game. He played every hand and raised, maybe because he was short on chips. There was a bring in and he raised with a Jd up. I was 2 away from him, one player behind me to act. I had 567 rainbow and called. It was heads up, on 4th I got a 8 he got a 6. He bet I called. I made a straight 8, don’t know what he had as he bet I raised, he called and his hand was mucked. We danced again and I started with 356 and a 7 on 4th, we were heads up when he bet I called and the other player folded. I got an 8 on 5th he bet again, and I of course called and got a 9 on the end. He showed J8K all rainbow and he was betting and raising all the way. He ended up with some pair and called me a F-in donk because I started with the best and ended with the best I guess. Or maybe anyone that beats him he considers a Donk. I didn’t comment, no need to, and he left and so did I as the game was 3 handed then. Playing short handed split game is dumb IMO, I will play Stud hi before I play a split game short handed.

Ok so I am a donk, so be it, I have been called worse.
Just when I think I have things figured out, I find out the only thing I know for certain is “nothing is certain.” I make plans based on what I am told will happen and boom, it changes. My life is like that, I don’t know anything for certain from one day to the next. My friend says this makes life interesting, I can do without interesting!
I plan things around our trips to Reno, like my husbands 3 kids coming for his birthday on Tuesday Feb 5th. It was all planned, celebrate it in Reno, the day before his Chemo. The girls got their reservations for Tuesday and so did the boy, great! Then we get a new appointment schedule from the VA and no appointments the 6th! That means we won’t be in Reno the 5th or anytime that week. So the kids will rent a car and drive up which takes 3 hours at least. No complaints, it will be fun and great for hubby! Just not what I had planned.
This is why I try not to make plans, the rug always gets pulled out from under me. Yep, by experiences in life, the glass is usually 1/2 empty. This attitude comes from hearing “this is what we are going to do” and silly me believes it, then it changes the next day, week, or whenever. Maybe I am a donk and have a comprehension problem!
Poker on the other hand is going ok. Or maybe it is just that I am getting out of the games at the right time, before I lose my wins back.
I haven’t played any tournaments, just the cash games. I have not had the time to invest in a tourney lately, at least in the cash games I can come and go as I need to. The Bankroll is now at $130 but I am playing as I write this…so it could be different in a hour or so! Not too bad for a Donk who started with nothing…

If you are a donk, then I will have to strive to be a donk like you. At least you have a bankroll!
