King-Little

Of course I have been playing…gently sliding downhill, trying not to bottom out. The Card Fairy has left me and is visiting Linda, I hope she comes back soon, or maybe she can send her twin sister!

I have played in the $11+$1 NLH on PokerStars almost everyday. I haven’t made any $$ to brag about, enough to get my buy-in back and a few extra on most days, which I have managed to lose in the cash games *boohoo*

The Tourneys have been funny, as in exasperating. In three of them I ended up all-in with A-K and got snapped by K-5 off suit twice and K-2 off suit once. And yes the King-littles had to call a hefty raise to play that beautiful hand. Then there was the Q9 that called when my AA raised, the Q9 put me all-in, he had ESP and knew he was luckier than I was, a 9 on the flop and a 9 on the river proved it and I was out.

I am trying to relieve some of the stress of these tournaments. I am trying to not play too tight, which I think  know I do  most of the time. I throw away hands I want to call with like 66, and they would have won big pots. I am in the mode of feeling like I have no clue what I am doing. And maybe I don’t! I am in “Donk mode” I guess because if I feel like playing 9-9 for a raise, I will, what am I so afraid of? Another tourney is a click away if I bust out of this one is how I am thinking.

The cash games have been the usual, in my corner is the 500 pound gorilla A-2-3 of clubs, in the other corner is the very proud holder of 2-J-7 off suit. I have a 7-5 low with a club draw and “Mr. Proud” continues to call my bets…. chasing…and making a better low and a pair to shoot down my would be gorilla. The next time he gave chase I had 2-3-4-6 of spades, he had somthing equally as wonderful as his other hand, and I ended up with an 8-6 but of course he made a better 8 and a pair of 8’s for high. He must think I am the world’s biggest donk, always betting the losers! There is NO way to beat a horseshoe.

While playing last night in the midst of losing $40, I was looking at the table and wondering just how much $$ these players have invested in playing. It gave me new hope, remembering that I have nothing invested except my time. I doubt anyone else at the table can say the same. So… win, lose or draw, I am still a winner before I even take a seat is how I look at it.  That makes being donked out on much easier to take!

On the homefront: We have not had a vacation in 9 long years. My idea of a vacation is not going to visit relatives either. My concept of vacation is not to have to cook, clean, or do anything I don’t want to do. Now that Hubby is feeling better I am going to fullfill both of our dreams. Mine for a real vacation, and his of going to Alaska. So for almost 3 weeks in September we will be on a Cruise/Land tour, where you will find me sitting on our balcony sipping a cocktail watching the glaciers drift by. My sis and her husband are also going, and my nephew. We are so excited!! It will be nice to make some good memories.  Hubby worked on building the Alyeska Prince Resort years ago in Alaska, and always dreamed of staying there somday, so we are, for 1 night on the land tour. He is so excited about that!

After losing my Mom, I realized how important it is to make happy memories with those we love, because when they are gone…that is all we have. It puts life in perspective, and shows you just how unimportant things like being donked out on really is!

Grab a chair…see you there!

Well, I’m not as with it as Linda. If I tried to use “kewl beanz” to one up her, I’d probably end up sounding like I’m hoping you avoid flatulence on those rich cruise dishes.

The current run at the table may not have good luck associated with it. But real life blessed you two to drawout on life. Don’t look back. It is all ahead.

    Next hand, dealer!

You are right Ken, no matter what happens at the poker table..I am a WINNER in life, and I know it and am so grateful! Hubby’s good health is the only Royal Flush that matters!
