My Trip Aces Tripped Me Up!
I logged into Full Tilt Poker Thursday night and caught the US player Freeroll at 9:05 p.m. The new playing guide system was going OK. I caught pocket Kings and Tens and Sixes and Nines and was riding high for a good while.
Then, the hands turned sour and if I did pay to see a Flop or get a free look with BB, I had to fold nine times out of ten. I tried to pay attention to hands in regards to playing position strength but for this tourney, it did not turn out to be a lot of help.
I was holding on by the skin of my teeth when I caught pocket Aces and was on the Button. Several callers and no raisers, so I raised 4x blinds which was 800 chips into the pot. Two players called and stayed and the Flop brought me a third Ace along with a 7,10 unsuited on the table.
I bet another 800 chips and they both called. The Turn came as an 8 and if I remember correctly, there were two suited cards on the table. Again, both players checked and I went All-In. Again, both players called and neither were chipless in doing so.
The River came as a 6 and player one turned up a 5,4 suited but with only a straight with the help from the table. The other player also had a straight but holding an A,9 took the pot! Out on my butt again. I guess I just have to stop going All-In “All Together” for a while since the River drowns me most every time! $Maxiecat$
