The Battle Rages On…

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

At times this seems like poker wars, one battle at a time, trying to emerge unbloodied and beaten. Keeping my BR from getting wounded or killed is the main goal. Just when I think I am on the way up I get knocked down again. Live play has been brutal to me the last couple of days, but I managed to hit a couple of licks in 2 tournaments which made up for my ring game losses. (more…)

If I Can’t Win A Battle, How Will I Ever Win The War?

After reading the last blogs from both Linda and Glenda, I am depressingly reminded that I have gone nowhere so far on this project! (more…)

The Beat Goes On…..

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

And so do the poker wars on PokerStars. I have been playing everyday. Anywhere from 4-6 tournaments and ring games if they look juicy. It is normal lately for me to see a Stud H/L game that looks good, only to get in it and find no action and small pots, so I leave. It’s easy to forget

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Well, the munchkins are gone (I was unable to get in any more closet gambling) and I just got back from a weekend trip to see my niece get married and have been out of the loop until today. (more…)

The Deadzone

I have been in the poker deadzone since my last post. Been playing mostly tournaments and a few cash games thrown in to keep me about even.

The Never Ending Poker Road

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

It starts as a road and eventually turns into a twisting trail, filled with overhanging, thorny brush, rocks that turn into boulders, and then disappears somewhere out in a wasteland that sucks the light out of life and laughs at you because you have no escape hatch and can’t remember how you got where you are. Not really, but it will if you let it. (more…)

The Closet Gambler

The never ending stream of cards

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

When it comes down to the end of life’s long session of poker - or poker’s long session of life - it’s all about finding hands you can’t play. Think about it! We always think we’re running bad when we’re caught in the stream of bad cards, are we? Not really, it’s just poker. It’s part of the game. If you can always find a reason to play a hand, you have a serious problem with your play. There are a lot of triggers that kick us into certain attitudes and ideas about the game and game play. Those triggers are something we need to be aware of as we pace ourselves through a tournament or a session in a ring game. (more…)
