A Small Victory
I scored a small victory in the $100k guaranteed event on PokerStars Sunday. Cosidering what the top places paid..in the thousands, this was a very small win but still…I placed!
As usual when the blinds got up to 7500 I had no chips and another 300+ players to go before the next pay bump of $20. This was the 2nd table I had played at and had seen nothing, one hand I had I should have played, 1 off the button Q-9 of diamonds but it was raised so I pitched. Flop was J-10d 3 of spades. I would take that draw anyday, no one called the raiser so I have no idea if I would have doubled thru or not. I busted when I put my chips in on A-5 off suit on the BB when it was raised and called to me. Bad play of course, but after the blinds I would have less than 10k left when everyone else had at least 5x that. So I took a shot at the moon with a BB gun and missed. This was the first Ace I had seen in an hour, and come to find out any Ace and I would have won. Oh well…so I play bad, but I knew that!

Dear PokerHack07,
You finished the tournament in 745th place.
A $60.34 award has been credited to your Real Money account.
Not a huge score but I have played 4 of these and it is my first blood. So at least for the $100k events I am even, ok $16 to the good…whooppee. Maybe I could have done better by waiting, maybe I would have been all-in on my next blind with 9-2 off suit, who knows. If it had worked I would have sailed up the ladder a notch.
Patience as always is my enemy. In ring games I leave when my patience runs out, in a tournament I am stuck. Linda has waaaayyy more patience than I will ever have. One reason is basically I hate NLH and tournaments, I feel trapped in them, so no, I will never be a good tourney player. Hard to be good at anything you really dislike.
Meanwhile back on the Mountain…
Hubby has been feeling pretty bad. He is supposed to have appointments/follow-up/tests at the VA next month but we haven’t heard anything. Normally we get an appointment sheet 3-4 weeks ahead of time, but so far silence. I called our amazing contact nurse Chris and left her a message to check to see if he has appointments set. Of course I know she is not there because of the holiday, but I wanted her to get the message when she gets in tomorrow morning. She is superwonderfulsweet and how cool to have a real contact at a gov’t facility. So….off to Reno sometime soon I hope.
I have avoided poker today, the ring games have been brutal to me so I am taking a break. Instead of playing I have been hunting for a 5th wheel online. This is one of the reasons I got a big truck, so I could haul a portable house around. Found what I want, a 2004 model, funny the new ones of that brand don’t excite me but I love the 2004. It has some cool picture windows on the back…well it is a Coachman Somerset…look for one if you are curious. I figure it will be time to get a good deal on one because with gas creeping up to $5 a gallon here, who can afford to go anywhere? I am hot to get one so hubby and I can travel while he is well enough to go, so I am shopping and dreaming.
Also still dreaming of the chase and who knows? Maybe I can score and buy that coach with my winnings!
