My zag has been zigged
or some such nonsense…I don’t know if I’m zigging when I should be zagging or there really is a plot from the Card Fairy that has me hooked up with the death row of Poker Wanna Winners. It’s a struggle. I made it down to about 50ish players out of a $4.40 180 player SnG, simply by folding everything under the sun and then winning one pot with A-J off…yeah…it’s brutal when you never pick up a playable hand and A-J off looks like a royal flush when you finally see A-Face. The run from hell wouldn’t even begin to describe it.
I did steal a pot now and then and had around $4k in chips. One of the players kept raising all-in, picking up the blinds and antes, and I don’t give a crap’s damn if he’s Johnny Chan or Phil Hellmuth, there’s no way any human can possibly find that many raising hands in a row. I picked up A-J one more time in the BB and he chunked all-in for about half of my stack. I called him. He had A-8 off. Sure…he snagged an eight…he’s supposed to. The very next hand I had J-J and went all-in for the remainder of my stack. I love this part because I hadn’t shown aggression or played a hand in 9 years other than the previous one. Not to worry, I got called by someone that had me covered and they showed K-J diamonds. One diamond on the flop, another on the turn, another on the river. Score: 9 million Card Fairy - 0 in the last 10 days Linda.
Today I picked up Aces and won a pot…startling to see Aces…I had to look three times to make sure it was my hand and not another player that had gone all-in. I picked up 9-9
and won a pot. Then I dipshit called off most of my stack when I had A-10 of Clubs in the BB and the flop was A-7-little. I bet a couple of hundred, got called in two spots, turn was a 9, I bet again and got raised all-in and the other player called the raise all-in short stack. I did think about it…but my donkey ear fell on the keyboard and I called almost all of my stack. One player had 7-7, the other had 10-9. I barely rallied in that tourney and then busted out. Lesson learned? Total Donkey, the Card Fairy had nothing to do with it.
On to the next tourney. One particular widget kept raising and fidgeting with the ‘put more chips in the pot’ button. I look down to 5-5 and he went all-in. I called (it was a re-buy and I don’t re-buy but they do), he showed K-Q and I won the pot. The very next frigging hand I pick up K-K and raise it x4 BB and he goes all-in. Obviously I call. He’s got Q-8 off and hits an 8 on the flop and an 8 on the turn. Card Fairy 9 million and counting.
An orbit later I pick up Q-Q raise it x5 BB, get four callers, including wonderboy with the Q-8. Flop is A-J-10, they were all all-in before it got to me. I never considered calling. One had j-3 or some shit, one had A-J, wonderboy had K-Q and won a small side pot when the smoke cleared as an Ace came on the turn, filling up the A-J.
By now I cannot give wonderboy any credit for any hand. He goes all-in, I call with A-K of spades. He’s got Q-Q. In some place other than Earth, in another dimension, I could catch an Ace or a King…they do it to me all the time…but it ain’t gonna happen here so, see ya Linda.
I hope wonderboy never stops playing the way he’s playing, truthfully, I even hope to play in a game with him again soon. But this isn’t a losing story, it’s a poker story, as you all know, you got through it all the time. Only difference is I have a sounding board…
