Poker Chat

I’ve listened to it live for years, as a dealer and player, from the pros, the wannabees, the regular Joes, and sometimes it’s what makes the whole experience worth being there. The people chatter mingled with chip clatter is, at times, the essence of why we go to a poker table. In online poker I’ve reported some chatters for their abuse of the English language and inability to express themselves without using swear words - and believe me, I know how to swear, I’m a pro at it - but calling someone names because you lost a hand just ain’t the way the game should go down.

This is part of a chat session from a $11 + 1, 180 player SnG I played in on PokerStars. It was so ridiculous that I couldn’t help but laugh all the way through it. Not only was I being attacked by players in the tournament, but a railbird (not someone that got knocked out - just a railbird) was involved in bashing me because I won a hand. We were at the $150-300 blind - 25 ante level and I had barely stayed alive to that point…no cards…no pots…and just got moved to this table a few orbits earlier.

I decided to donk out and called several all-ins in front of me with 4-5 hearts. I won that hand. The next hand I was still in the ’super donk’ mode and really didn’t care if I gotlinda_1_1.jpg bounced. I was UTG +1 with 2140 in chips and called the BB with Jh-10s right behind UTG that called the BB, another player called the BB and KingStock raised to 2420 all-in. It came around to me and I called and the other player folded, leaving me and KingStock who had As-Js. The flop was 10-10-7-2-6 and I claimed a pot with 5,355 in it. Let the keyboard hilarity begin.

The first one is from the railbird:

no1jetsfan87 [observer] said, “putting your tourny life on the line w/ j-10?”

The loser of the hand was right in the mix:

KingStock said, “you make stars great !”

One of the players in the game chimed in:

loaderman992 said, “that was just wrong”

Back to the loser:

KingStock said, “really”

The Rail Bird is flapping:

no1jetsfan87 [observer] said, “4-5 hearts to j-10″

no1jetsfan87 [observer] said, “i thought thats how moneymaker won”

no1jetsfan87 [observer] said, “with 4-5 of hearts!”
no1jetsfan87 [observer] said, “i lost in the final 2 in the 25k guarantee to j-10″

Back to the loser:

KingStock said, “can you at least show some courtesy and explain your brilliant move ?”

Donkey defense by me:

PokerWorks said, “alright, let the lectures begin”
The railbird never misses a beat:

no1jetsfan87 [observer] said, “**everyone simultaneously marks the notes section***”

Have no idea what the hell this player in the game is even talking about:

loaderman992 said, “they are great, i would not be goin to the main event without them”

The loser is pursuing an explanation:

KingStock said, “why your a ******”

The railbird is still flapping:

no1jetsfan87 [observer] said, “hes just a gutsy, bad player”

no1jetsfan87 [observer] said, “stock, no explanation”

Obviously I can’t stay out of it - I’m the donk - and loser wants me to explain:

PokerWorks said, “what courtesy would that be King Stock?”

PokerWorks said, “I won a hand. Perhaps you should all explain why you are such great players and you’re here.”

Finally…the player in the game said something sensible:

loaderman992 said, “u played ur cards, he played his”

The loser had to attack me personally so he pounced:

KingStock said, “is that a pictre of a guy ?”

And since I wanted to be obnoxious and he had two guys on his avatar, I replied:

PokerWorks said, “on your avatar? I have no idea. is that 2 guys?”

Another response from the player in the game but this one has nothing to do with anything:

loaderman992 said, “i must be good i got a wsop package”

The loser was back:

KingStock said, “no yours”

KingStock said, “mine is two random homosexuals”

Mixer with a twist - my next response:

PokerWorks said, “you didn’t come to play poker, you came because you have no life and need a place to whine”

Poor little loser boy:

KingStock said, “from Vegas? degenerate gambler perhaps”

Poor little donkey just trying to play a friendly game of poker:

PokerWorks said, “alright, now we are getting nowhere thanks to you”

Poor little loser - just has to blame something:

KingStock said, “you make this site great man”

*end of chat*

I think I picked up a pair the next hand and got it beat. I left. I’m not interested in railbirding a game to berate someone’s play (I’ve only went back to check on one player in a tourney because they behaved like such an azzhole that I told them they wouldn’t make the money - and they didn’t, they were about 10 out of the cash…but I didn’t pop in to chat and say anything either). The chat above is, to date, the most bizarrely interactive I’ve seen in an online game. I still think it’s funny when I read back over it.
