Hit & Run…
Last night (Wednesday) while watching Linda in a NLH tournament on PokerStars, I put my name up for a 1/2 S H/L game that looked pretty lively. The first hand I played was after pitching about 12 hands. I picked 3 hearts and called.
I had AK5 and got the 6 of hearts on 4th, 3 of diamonds on 5th and bricked up the last two. Next hand: another flush draw with a low, bricked up again. The third hand I played…you guessed it another baby flush draw, this time A-7-3 of diamonds. By 6th street I had a 7-5 low and a flush draw and missed both. Repeat for the next hand I played and I had seen enough bricks and quit. The only good thing about the game was “goofy2″ a great asset to a game, that I don’t play with often enough. He is a joy and not because he loses, he doesn’t as he plays better than most. What makes him enjoyable is just him being him, a nice funny and friendly guy. Too bad all players aren’t as nice as the goof is! And he is from Henderson, so let’s hear one for the nice players from Nevada! Nice to see…I was begining to think Linda was the exception, the rest were jerks!
I then watched Linda for awhile and seeing the beats she takes just gives me chills. It also makes me want to jump not play in tournaments because our tourney luck is running the same-Baaaad.
While watching and rooting for Linda I saw the 2/4 game had picked up in pot size so put my name up. I watched the game and read my notes on 4 of the players, love those notes! One was noted as being a nice guy…you may be able to guess what the others said, or maybe you don’t think I know those bad words, so you can’t guess :-).
One player I seem to be at the table with more often than I care to be is Lepo. He is a real *&^$#! Why? Because not only is his play sub-par but he insults the loosey gooseys other players when they beat him. We all know by now what I hate most in a game right? Right! The idiot who insults the live-action players and runs them off, ruining a good game in the process.
I had seat one and the first hand I picked up three hearts, A-3-K sound familiar? Triple raise and I call. I didn’t let the doubt-gremlin enter my head, new game, new table and new hand, winning is possible! Next off the deck is the 4h, I didn’t have to bet as it was capped before I had a chance to do anything. Next up is the Ad-Ks now no low possibilities, but a flush or FH draw. All my cards are live so I keep calling the capped pots, being capped by Lepo showing 679JQ all rainbow. The end brings me a heart and I bet and get 3 calls. Lepo had pretty much what I put him on (a set or straight), he made a set of 7’s on 3rd street and lucky me he didn’t fill. The other caller mucked so no clue what he had. I played 3 hands in less than 10 minutes:
Dealer: Game #18235043603: PokerHack07 wins Hi pot ($111) with a flush, Ace high Dealer: Game #18235043603: There is no low hand.
Dealer: Game #18235078415: PokerHack07 wins Hi pot ($29) with a full house, Fives full of Eights
The final hand I played, I bet and won the antes and quit. Results? $104.00 winner in 3 hands. I never (hardly ever anyway) hit & run. I usually don’t leave when things are going this good, I like to maximize my wins when I am finally making hands. But prudence told me that I had a great win for a 2/4 in such a short time, and the game died when Lepo decided to not tilt anymore and left. His tilt-a-whirl ride was what was making the game a good one. Plus, I was exhausted after working all day and wanted to go hug my pillow, glad for once I listened to my friend prudence.
Happy me, I was down to $1183 in the Bankroll, after losing $40 in tourneys and a few chips in ring games over the last week or so. BR now at $1287…and the chase is still on!
