Chasing Chris Ferguson

My husband told me when we were dating, “Stick with me and I can promise that you will never be bored.” Well, he was right about that,  we have so much going on in our lives that there is never time to be bored!  However, when he said that to me, I had visions of exotic places and romantic interludes as well as excitement and adventure.  Such grandiose thoughts for such an average, middle-class girl!

What does all that have to do with poker?  Well, when I started playing online poker, I suppose I was thinking that if I had a whole year to build a bankroll, that persistence would pay off at some point and the chips would start rolling in, but that hasn’t happened either.  Does it matter?  No, not really, but it would be nice to leave this little project with something more than knowledge and entertainment to show for it.  And don’t misunderstand, I have enjoyed myself thus-far but as with anything else in life, I would like to have MORE!

Last night’s escapades were nothing to write home about.  I logged onto Ultimate Bet and got into the 7:15 p.m. $50 Tourney Dollar freeroll.  It was status quot for a while with a steal now and then but no outstanding hands, or even any really good ones.  As my patience was wearing thin, I caught a pocket pair of Aces and went 3X blinds of $100 and was called by two players.  The Flop gave me a third Ace (of clubs) and I went 3X blinds again, this time called by one player.  There was a 10 of diamonds and a 4 of hearts also in that Flop. The turn was another diamond, a Queen and the other player checked and so I went another 3X blinds and he called. The River was a 3 of diamonds and he checked so I went All-In.  He turned up an A,K of diamonds and took me out.  Sucker punched me and he ALMOST had himself a Royal Flush on the River instead of “just a Flush.”  At any rate, I was out of the game.  But at least it was exciting for a bit!

Afterwards, I got a rhyme going in my head and ended up with this:

Here I sit real low on chips,

When my opponent’s River Flush gets flipped.

It killed my Trips which really bites,

And without another hand in site!

I’ll try to keep my patience checked,

And pray for something from the deck.

To my right and left they’re winning see,

But right now, man, I have to pee!

If I leave now my chance will come,

And missing it will make me bummed.

I also need another beer,

Why don’t I have a fridge in here?

The phone is ringing and dinner is waiting,

My eyesight’s blurry and my back is aching.

Four of a kind, I’m All-In, Joker!

Man, I love this on-line poker.
