Chasing Chris Ferguson

 The poker wars continue. I still can’t get past Go in any tournament, let alone actually cash. It is all a crap shoot played with cards instead of dice. I really suck at craps, so my chances of beating 14,000 crap shooters are slim and none.

I have learned this; if you go all-in some donk player will call no matter what they have. It is like God appointed them the one to play a POS and bust you, so they take up the sword proudly. And it doesn’t matter what they have. If everyone folds to the button, he will call you-it is an automatic donkrule or something. I have had my AA,KK, AK  and the like beat by every hand imagineable except I think 7-2.

So it went as it always does in the PokerStars $100k guaranteed today. I picked up some chips here and there then when the blinds got to 800/1000 I got pocket Q’s UTG. I went all-in with my 2700 and got a call from the BB who had 6000 and knew it was his job to call since no one else did. He had A-9 off suit, the perfect hand with a flop of AA7. At least it could have been a quality hand like A-K but they never bust me with those hands.

Yesterday I played S8 3/6 on PokerStars and got creamed for $60 and quit. I then got in a jamming little 1/2 and won back $40, then to a 2/4 late last night and won again. Today I played before the $100k tourney and won a little which paid my tourney buy-in.  Yesterday after the 3/6 my BR was down to $1330 and after the various dances I got in now it is back up to $1450. Did I hear the word Yo-Yo?? That’s poker, take a loss of almost $100 then get it back and win $23 from the point where I started the week at.

It is a strange day here, overcast and smoky/hazy. California has over 1,000 fires blazing through the state. Thankfully none of them are close to us, but the smoke has drifted up here and is just hanging.

There is a severe air quality health advisory warning that stretches for 450 miles, from Bakersfield to Redding that is a hell of a lot of nasty air.

One thing that sends shivers up my spine is the word fire. That’s what happens when you live at 6,500 feet on a mountain top in the middle of a forest.   We have a Cal Fire station a mile away and the lookout lady knows where every house up here is, plus our phone numbers. Believe me; if we ever get a call, we are out of here like Peter rabbit with his tail on fire.  Today is supposed to bring thunder and lightning, the biggest enemy in the fire fight.  Nothing to do but have hoses at the ready and pray we escape any strikes and resulting fires.  At least people up here are smart enough to nix any thoughts of fireworks next weekend.

For now it is nap time and maybe more poker later…I sure would like to hit the $1500 mark by the 1^st of the month, or maybe I haven’t had quite enough irritation for one day. Linda makes it all bearable, having her there to rant at when the same idiot guy makes a 4 card running flush against me THREE times…well it keeps me from saying anything dumb in the chat box. I mean really, how can I expect AA99 in four to beat a Kc-2c-7h anyway? Thanks budette for always listening and for the encouragement…You are a Royal Flush in a world of 7-2 off suits!
