Stable Playing
I could be referring to how stable I played, or that the Sunday $100k Guaranteed tourney on PokerStars was like playing in a stable of donkeys…or maybe both. With 23,826 entries, no way to expect the level of play to be world class.
Early on “Space-tim’ showed his skill of seeing something good in almost every hand. Blinds are 20/40, he was UTG with Q-9 off and raised to 40, I was on the button with 9-7d and called, the player in SB was all-in for the raise. Flop is 5-2-7 rainbow. Dipshit spacey bets 480 into a dry side pot and I fold. The all-in wins with 5-9 for a pair of 5’s, nice play space cadet who had what, a pair draw? Someone point me to some stats where it is smart to bet nothing into an all-in player please? They must be out there I see this play so often. *Early in my live tournament play days I did bet into an all-in player and got jumped on by 6 experienced tourney players. I found out fast they were right-DUMB play!*
Twice I had KK - raised and  no calls. I get 88 in SB call a 100 raise, flop is QQ8 I check to the raiser he bets 200, I raise he folds.
A-K on button, I raise I caller, flop is 8-5-3off he checks I bet he folds. Then I see QQ UTG raise 500 and get 2 callers UTG bets the AA3 flop I fold. The 9-9 goes all-in and the showdown says I mucked best hand. A-9 in SB I mucked when button raised 500. The flop A-9-3 and the AJ went all-in, I could have won 7k. sharzman went on tilt going all in every hand (my QQ would have busted him long ago) I called 4560 all-in with 10-10 he had A-J and the board missed him and I won. I could have won the next and busted him w Q2d but I mucked it and a QJ hi no pair busted him because he went all in on 9-7off.
As always happens when I am making hands, I got moved and was totally card dead. The best cards I saw were Q-8h and would have had to go all-in to play it which I didn’t (and would have lost). Mucking and watching the count, we were down to 6193 players. I anted off 4,000 without seeing anything a drunk would play, and was down to 10,650. Finally I threw away a winner, my A-3 off would have hit the flop of A36. Raised with A-J got re-raised and another player went over the top, I folded and QQ won.
Down to 8,700players and there is no limping in this game and my chips are out gunned by all but 3 players. Damn I wish they had left me at the other table, I may have had a chance. Up for air when I see K-J diamonds with a raise in front of me, I call and there are 3 of us to a flop of Kc8c2d I had to call 1200 on the flop and was last when the J of clubs hit the turn and they both checked I fired. Got one caller, who showed Q-J off suit, I won and had 22,200k with blinds at 500/1000 and 4,766 players left.
I am moved again and didn’t see anything bigger than a 7 in 3 rounds, 900 left to make the money.
Best hand after 5 rounds was J-10 UTG which I mucked (flop was Q-K-2 and a bet made sure I never knew if I would have made it). I was tempted again UTG with a 8-9c and mucked it then was so glad to see the flop of flop 10s2s5c. There are 4171 players left after 2 hrs of play, just 3581 more I make $23.82! I raise UTG 1200 with AQ get the blinds…. 400 left to make the $$ after 2 hrs 6 min of play.
2nd break and if I don’t do anything stupid I can muck my way to the money, only 300 donkeys have to die! Â I fold A-2s UTG …flop was KQ6 diamonds. BB I get A-2 again hum 2 hands in a row, omen? I think not and muck to a raise. Next hand in the SB I get a 44 and raised 2400 and the BB called, flop was a rainbow 357, I bet he folded. Â Blinds are now 600/1200 and I have 20,425. At 2.55 pm the bubble has burst, I am in the money *woohoo*.
I get moved yet again, what is this win a hand and get moved day?? After 3 orbits of nothing I got Ac-7c UTG and raised 4k and seat 1 went all-in. I folded (if I could get a do over I would have called) since the raiser was tilting. Â I am down to 12,000 chips, stone cold card dead with blinds of 1500/3000. I donked out when I saw A-10 and had the button limp in. So I raised all-in and the button called. The flop was 3 small hearts and I had 10h (of course it couldn’t have been the A) the caller had JsJh and the heart on turn killed my chances of making any more $$. After looking at trash for too many rounds to count A-10 looked good, so I donked out and played it. Since everyone had me out chipped by 3-4x I felt like I had to make a move on something and this was the best “something” I had seen so far. If the JJ had raised I would have dumped it but the flat call got me. I would have preferred to be beaten by more than a notch though!

I am trying to make myself feel better by the fact I did outlast 23,500 other donkeys though. If I had played worse, by calling the one hand with QQ and calling with A-9 I know think I may have cashed better.
After bouncing in and out of Stud H/L games all afternoon I am $11.00 ahead, whoopeeedooo! Yep it is better than losing!
I am going to be gone for a week or more, so unless I catch some good wi-fi, I won’t be posting for awhile. Yes, I am going to get the “aircard” thing just haven’t done it yet. Plus all the carriers just limited the service to 5MG a month, hell I have no clue how many that is!
Tell me Ken - is that going to be enough to play, surf, blog and cruise the net? I won’t be downloading anything and won’t use it every day. I am keeping an eye on Wi-Max too but that looks to be a few years away from full coverage. It is not a problem right now, but if we are on the road next year for 4-6 months it will be. And I hate the $60 a month and 2 year commitment requirements too. And, from what I read no one can depend on Wi-Fi in most RV parks. Lots of things to figure out and consider!
Grab a chair….I’ll see ya there, when I get back!

Well played for getting into the money! I am setting myself a similar sort of Chris Ferguson style challenge but kind of cheating by starting with £3.60 (enough for 3 £1.20 SnG’s).
Am now at £12.60 so is going alright. I will keep you updated!
Out of interest, how much are you up to now?

“I won’t be posing for awhile.” Darn, I was going to renew my dirty, old, man license if you had…
The 5m should be OK if you don’t get carried away in the browser. I imagine a packet sniffer would show that playing is the exchange of 128 byte packets or something close. Might ballpark at around 1K a round. So, you shouldn’t have a problem play a few thousand hands using it and still have reasonable email and light browsing. I imagine you’ll only use it in week or so stretches which give you cushion over the month. You’ll know after the first trip just what your usage was and can adjust. If you were being careful, it’d probably be and upward adjustment.
Well, it is 5 A.M. and I am of to the dentist in South Bend. Be still my heart. I may need a guest blogger as this week is hectic and you’re heading out. My luck is the same at the tables of late.

Hi Poker Blog!
Good luck on your own challenge and keep us informed!
My Bankroll is $1335 and it has taken me since November to get this far. I am still hoping to hit a tournament for a good size lump of cash. I envy you if you can play on Ladbrokes, what a freeroll they offer this month, wish I could get in on it!
Thanks for stopping by and if you see me on PokerStars stop and say hi!
Good luck playing,
Glenda

Thanks Ken,
We do plan a USA tour next year and may be gone about 4-6 months if hubby stays well enough. His “bucket list” is to see the country while he can. While on the road we will be staying in RV parks probably 3/4 of the time so I figured with the WIFI in parks and the card where there is no other option, it should work. At $60 a month I am not getting it till we will be gone for long stretches. Appreciate the info thanks so much. I have to make sure I can keep working on the road…to pay for the liquid gold and be able to stay on the road!
I have been researching WiFi antennas (boosters) and think I will get one of those, seems they are worth the cost. Many park reviews mention weak signals.
And trust me you don’t want to see ME pose for anything! So now I won’t be “posting” either!
We are off tomorrow on our journey to get the covered wagon and spend 4 days in Reno, sounds much more fun that a dentist!
