Brag…Brag…Braggggg…

The first ever PokerWorks Family HORSE tournament was held tonight on PokerStars at 6 p.m. PST. Ten players showed up to pony up (pun intended) their $5.50 buy-in. I am expected to brag here so I don’t want to disappoint anyone!

The whole thing was over in about an hour, but it was an hour filled with good natured ribbing and the whole “home game” feel. It was great and I hope it will become a regular game with more readers joining us! And no, it wasn’t fun just because I W-O-N either :-)

Here is the final results:

 And the whopping prize pool:

Ok enough bragging? I mean really, how can a witch with a crown AND a magic wand not win??

The next PokerWorks Family tournament will be in 2 weeks, September 7th. I am sure they all decided that date on purpose so I can’t defend my crown because I will be Skagway, Alaska on that day! Sorry guys but I’d rather be cruising!! Hopefully this will be a twice a month event, or weekly would be fine with me…yes it was a lot of fun, even if I hadn’t earned bragging rights!

It was much more fun than my earlier run in the PokerStars $200k Sunday tourney. I did last until somewhere about 1,000 out of the money which is close when you consider about 25,000 players and the prize pool pays from 3,500 up. My demise was when 2 players limped and I had the BB. I had A-5 off suit and flop was A-5-K, I bet and the other 2 called, turn was a 2 and I bet again and the player behind me went all-in, player 3 called and I mucked. Mr. All-in had limped UTG with pocket Kings, his caller had A-J off suit, river paired the 2 and Kings full won a hige pot. Why was I able to lay down 2 pair? Because I had seen Mr. All-in play only 2 hands and both times he had the stone cold nuts and limped with a big hand. I consider limping with a huge hand an idiot play, only because if I ever do it I get stomped by the 7-4 off in the BB. But it worked for this guy. That hand crippled me and I never could recover.

This will be my last post for a month, we leave Tuesday for Reno then on our way down the road to vacation.

Hubby couldn’t have his chemo last week, his white cell count was too low. We did do his “cruise clothes” shopping though which was fun and sad, as he has lost 7″ in his waist, needless to say he had no pants that fit anymore. But today he is feeling good, his first good day in way over a month. So, he says he is not getting his chemo Thursday and he will tell the Dr. on Wednesday when he sees him after he has tests done. I am praying the fluid in his lungs is cleared up and he doesn’t need the chemo anyway. But by not having the chemo, he will have 4 weeks since he has had it (when we get on the ship) and should feel good. I can’t blame him, I would do the same thing I am sure. He wants to feel good and enjoy himself, not be sick and in the stateroom for a week.

So today was a GOOD day, and it has nothing to do with winning the tournament. When hubby has a good day, so do I and it has nothing to do with winning or losing at poker. But it was nice to have a Win - Win day!

Until I return…may you all be winners, at the tables and in life!

Grab a chair…see ya there - in a month!

We will miss you, Glenda. May you have a wonderful trip, and here’s hoping for a great healing for your husband. You are both in my prayers.
Congratulations on your win tonight! You were clearly the best player by far, lol!

Enjoy your cruise! My family has been on two Alaska cruises and plan to go again in the future. If you have not done it before, you are in for a treat. If you have, then you already know what a wonderful trip it is.

Congrats on the win! I wish I had played better and lasted longer, but my inner donkey got the best of me.

Thank you both for playing the tourney! It was so much fun!

Thanks for the prayers clear, we take all we can get!

Yest: You played fine - except for the A-5 off suit calling my raise when I had A-K! It worked when you paired the 5 though so what do I know lol.
My hubby worked in Alaska, he knows it’s beauty but I am anxious to see it all. This is my 2nd cruise and his first so I know we will love it.
We do a 5 day land tour after the cruise and know that will be awesome, we are excited about seeing Denali.

Hope to see you in another tourney when I get back…in the meantime, give ‘em hell at the tables!

Glenda, I knew that calling your raise with A5o was a marginal play at best, but since it only cost me one bet instead of what probably would have been a pot-sized bet in PL or NL, I thought I would see one more card. I got very lucky that the next card paired my kicker, or I would have been folding for sure. Later, of course, I kept calling with my low two pair against JB’s obvious higher two pair in Stud. I knew I was beat but I was so low on chips that I was hoping for a miracle boat. Still, I had fun and I hope to play in this tourney again!
