I don’t get it.

I don’t understand it, I can’t stand it, and I figure I’ll be a lunitard before long if the poker run continues the way it has been.

I played four tourneys yesterday that I bought into…and another one that was a satellite using FPP points at PokerStars.  I hear other players whine when they get beat about ‘jokestars’ or ‘pokerstars saves the idiots’ or ‘pokerstars always does that’ and I really don’t believe PokerStars has anything to do with it.  I do, however, believe the Card Fairy is always out and about doing foul things and that as of late, she’s aligned her forces with Card Gremlin.  Between the two of them, there is no win possible.

I’m on both of their shit lists it would seem.

Today was the beginning of something wonderful - or so I thought.  After signing up for the PokerWorks H.O.R.S.E tournament next Sunday, and making sure I was in the $200K guarantee tournament tomorrow, I had about $30 left of my pathetic BR.  I can’t help it kids.  You have to beat the game now and then…or re-buy to have chips…I haven’t rebought and I’m not beating anything except my brain with bad beat stories. I jumped into a $3.30 NLH tourney.

Amazingly, I picked up 9-9 in the BB and called a raise with a limper early on.  The Flop was 3-3-9.  I bet $100 and both players called.  The turn was a K.  I bet, the limper folded, the raiser raised me.  I called.  The River brought another 3.  I checked, the raiser went all-in for around 700 and I called and stacked a pot of over 3K.  Wowie Kadowie!  Wonderment of all wonders.

The play of the tournament went on.  I took A-A against J-J and won that one too.  OMG!  I raised pre-flop with A-K twice and pitched on the flop.  I lost around 4K when I raised with A-J of diamonds and a player behind me raised it another 5K all-in.  I did have him covered but it would take over half my stack if I lost (the blind level was around 200-400 at the time) and I wasn’t in the mood to destroy myself with A-J.  I lost one race with A-Q of diamonds where I raised it around 4K and got raised another 2K or so all-in.  He had J-J.  That was really the only hand I played that I lost other than the last hand that put me out of the tournament.

At one point, if I’d played Q-10 of diamonds I would have made quad queens, a few hands later if I had plunged with A-K diamonds (it would have cost me all of my stack to call), I would have back doored a straight and took out 2 players.  Now that really is some kind of turnaround from the way my cards have been running.

I pitched 10-10 out of the BB when it would have cost me my stack to call around the 400-800 level.  I just didn’t want to go broke.  Maybe that’s a bad move on my part but it is what it is.

The hand I went bust on kind of pisses me off that both the Card Fairy and the Card Gremlin both teamed up to get me.  Everything had been running smoothly, I was in the ‘don’t play a hand for a week’ zone, the antes were 200, Blinds were 1 and 2K.

No one was going aggressively insane at our table and I picked up K-J Hearts and had 15867 left in chips in middle position. qvan02 raised to 6K putting in a 4K raise - he had 28683 in chips.  I pushed, making it 9667 more, going all-in for 15667.  Obviously I got called.  He had K-10 Spades.

The board: 7s-As-4d-9h-Js

I really don’t get why in the hell he has to flop a 4 flush and make the flush on the river and I’m out.  I don’t get it.  He raised 2nd UTG with the hand which isn’t something I would do but what do I know?  Freaking nothing it would seem.  But why does he have to get there?

I came in 46th out of 1368 players and PokerStars credited $9.85 to my account.  Whoop tee shit!

Back to the drawing board.

And one of our original starters appears to be giving this challenge another go on her own.  Good Luck Miss Carmen.  I hope you win a zillion.
