Maxiecat is gone - somewhere like vacation or something. PokerHack is gone too, she’s on a cruise. That leaves Chasing Chris Ferguson’s pages with boring, can’t win, me.
I often spend time reflecting on what I’m doing wrong. It can’t be the deck, right? It can’t be a bad run that never ends, right? Wrong! According to what some lifetime players have said, it might be. But the thought of that’s too depressing to contemplate so let me get on with the fact that I must be doing something wrong. I have no idea what it could be though.
My style of play is ‘donk’ with a capital “D” so that hasn’t changed. I vary my bets/raises so that hasn’t changed. My fear factor has grown…that has changed. As soon as I get to heads-up, I’m looking for the card that will beat me. It is always there.
I played the Sunday $200K guarantee on PokerStars yesterday. I did make the $. While getting to the $$, at the 50-100 blind level, I posted the 100 blind and looked at A-Q clubs. It was raised 200 more and I called, we were heads-up.
I had 3290 in chips and ‘happyfreaked’ had 3420. The flop was 3s-10c-9c. I bet 400. Happyfreaked raised it 1200 and I called. The turn was an 8d, happyfreaked went all-in and I called. The 2c came on the river. *WINNER!* *winner!!*
happyfreaked was not happy:
happyfreaked said, “OMFG”
happyfreaked said, “asiehjwqekljadfklr”
happyfreaked said, “kjadfkje”
happyfreaked said, “akjdf”
happyfreaked said, “qkej”
happyfreaked said, “askfjekj”
happyfreaked said, “fcricking ******”
happyfreaked said, “how the **** can u call that”
happyfreaked said, “jezus fckcing christ”
The funniest part of it is that I had A-Q the hand before and raised pre-flop and won, and I had A-K the
hand before and did the same thing. In this hand I was going to raise it, he just beat me to it.
But that aside, a few hands later I picked up J-J and raised it and he called me all-in with Q-6 and hit a Queen and won the pot. I typed in the chat: “Is this the part where I have a fit because I got beat.”
He told me I should go somewhere else and be a recreational player. Really? I am a recreational player…and if I play like shit, why doesn’t he want to play with me.
Loser boy!
He went broke not long after that.
I hung on to some chips until I got down through about 19000k of players and then never picked up another hand. I watched yestbay1 play in a ST SNG and he came in 3rd (as I was folding my ass off at my table). Good job yestbay1.
The hand I chose to chunk on was not a good hand. I decided to chunk because of the action behind me - if I managed to hit anything it would give me chips for another half hour or so - and I was the BB - and I already had most of my miserable little stack out in the blind and I had made the $ and if I didn’t make a hand, I’d be out in the next orbit anyway.
I had 6135, the ante was 200 and the BB was 2000. A player behind me raised all-in, two players called (obviously everyone had me covered), and I called the rest of my stack with Qd-5s (puke). I made nothing. If I had connected I would have picked up over 21K in chips. My reasoning may be flawed (when the hell isn’t it?) and I should have pitched and prayed. LMK kids. Although don’t conjecture on the prayer part because I’m not sure where the prayers for poker are going as of late. I did pick up a big $21.75 for my efforts. Whoop whoop!
