Supper time!
It’s 9:50 PM on Saturday night. We’re on the dinner break at the $1,500 Razz event at the World Series. I’m still in the tournament.
Wait, let me rephrase that. I’M STILL IN THE FUCKING TOURNAMENT, SUCKA!!! (Yeah, that’s right - 3 exclamation points.)
I’ve been telling people that making the dinner break is MY final table. Now I’m thinking that making the final table is my final table.
Not that this is especially likely. I have 3,200 chips, which is a bit above average. But the next level, with 25 antes and 75-150 limits, can make that disappear in a hurry if I do something stupid like I did a couple times. I’ve also played smart some of the time, learned to take advantage of certain players (who are, unfortunately, long gone), and straightened myself out after doing something dumb.
Sam Grizzle recently moved to my left and Robert “Chip Burner” Turner to my right. I stole a small pot off Sam, but I also doubled him up.
All I have to do is make it back to the Rio in 36 minutes and remember whatever it was that Ted and Huck told me last night and maybe I’ll get through this okay. I remember Huck Seed telling me about playing five rounds of golf in one day on a bet, but I’m not sure if that’s going to help me.
Think. Think.
