Can you help put me in touch with Angie Dickinson? A hundred bucks if I meet her.
I’m less from a month away from the conclusion of my current book project and I’m developing ideas for The Next Book. I woke up this morning and decided the book should be about Angie Dickinson and the title should be Happy Birthday, Uncle Otis.
I’m not making this shit up! (Wait, actually, I AM.) “Happy Birthday, Uncle Otis,” was Dickinson’s first movie line. Dickinson, who is now 75, has led a fascinating life in the public eye: Howard Hawks, John Wayne, Rio Bravo, Frank Sinatra, John F. Kennedy, Ocean’s Eleven, Ronald Reagan, Burt Bacharach, Police Woman, Dressed to Kill.
I think her story could make a great book. So who wants $100?

Try Phil Gordon. I know Angie played on an episode of Celebrity Poker Showdown. Maybe he has a phone number or at least a contact with the show that could get a hold of her for you.

I am likely not worth a book, but if you want to scribble some notes on a cocktail napkin, you might be able to sell it on eBay and make enough to buy into a Binion’s tournament.

I was dealing 21 at Harrahs Tahoe as a summer job from UC Davis circa 1990. I will never forget the vision that was Angie Dickinson when she walked through the casino dressed to the nines. As you mention, she would have been in her late 50s at this point but was by far the hottest gal in the in room. I tried to explain this fact to my buddies from home (Sacramento) but they could not understand. She will always be in my “Top Five” based on that night.
