I can’t finish the story unless you play more online poker

I get it, I get it.

From the comments I’ve gotten and all the e-mails, you guys are getting impatient to hear the rest about Mike Matusow, Sam Grizzle, and whatever other improbably people and places showed up in my adventures of Sunday night.

So let me say the following:

1. These delightful anecdotes are brought to you free of charge by Pokerworks, which makes its money not from your appreciation (that’s how I make MY money) but from your downloading and playing online poker from the links along the left column.

You may not know this but a lot of poker bloggers have lost their jobs or advertisers recently. Party Poker and Paradise Poker did a lot of advertising on blogs and even hired bloggers to write tournament reports. Because they have shut down U.S. operations, they aren’t hiring most of those people or seeking that advertising space.

The folks about Pokerworks are made of sterner stuff. They see I have a huge and growing following. They aren’t turning tail just because the waters have gotten choppy. They have the guts to stay and play when cowards like Bill Frist and Jim Leach try to make a midnight sneak attack. They have guts. They have integrity. (They have me ass-kissing because I’m hoping they don’t follow those other sites by shutting down (or worse, firing me), though, boy, I’ll have an ironic last laugh if they do!)

They also see that with Party orphaning its hundreds of thousands of regular players, all that reliable business is looking for a place to play. Full Tilt has grown 40% THIS MONTH. This is the time when I’m MORE valuable because you readers are looking for a new place to play.

So download some online poker software from one of the links on the left, load up your account with money, and play. It’s the second-least you can do.

2. I will get off that soapbox and back to work with the next portion of the Mike Matusow slumber party adventure.

3. I called Ted Forrest yesterday to find out about getting his final comments on the Stud-Eight-or-Better chapter. Does that guy ever have an ordinary day? We have to get together on Wednesday because Tuesday’s no good. He’s meeting Mike Tyson on Tuesday.

    John:

I assume you are attacking the naked commercial appeal. My real goal, especially because I don’t think the people who pay me actually READ the stuff I write, is to create a giant irony if they fire me because they want to retrench out of caution in this environment.

Yeah, that’ll make up for getting paid for entertaining and informing a large, appreciative audience.

    Yeah BOOO!!!

Get back to giving us free entertainment from a gifted writer and journalist. If I can’t get a unique perspective from inside the poker world and reading entertaining and interesting stories and anecdotes without occasionally hearing suggestions to play poker online, then I’m gonna take my business of not paying anything elsewhere.

    Hey,

Lighten up, I just wanted to hear the rest of the story.
