Google, Pamela Anderson, and an Axis of Evil Nipped in the Bud - Plus “The Post” That Caused It

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

Good news, everybody! While I am investigating what happened to my November 13, 2006, post titled, “The Short, Brief Life of Pamela Anderson’s Poker Site,” the alchemists at Google have retrieved it. Try as Iggy and Kid Rock might, they were no match for the awesome, lordly power of the Internet Search Engine. To me, Google’s stock is a bargain at $500 per share.

Kid Rock will not silence me!

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

It was with shock and horror that I discovered that one of my posts has disappeared from the Internet. Poof, gone! Like it never existed. That post, of course, was my infamous November 13, 2006, post, “The Short, Brief Life of Pamela Anderson’s Poker Site.”

I think this has the scraggly-haired fingerpints of Bob “Kid Rock” Richie Anderson all over it.

Beal. Andy Beal.

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

The call came from Simon Gravel, a Frenchman who identified himself as a reporter for LaPresse, Montreal’s main newspaper. His question:

Was the character of LeChiffre, the villain in the new James Bond movie Casino Royale, inspired by Andy Beal?

I don’t threaten violence. I let James Woods and Jennifer Harman do it for me.

I don’t want to let my rivalry with Iggy get out of hand. Sure, he’s younger and more energetic. He’s more prolific. He’s been at this longer than me. And he’s bringing a huge audience to Pokerworks.

Ever seen some great old James Woods movies? The guy played a bunch of characters who would kill you and not miss a bite of dinner. In BEST SELLER, he plays this killer who is so efficient that - well, I don’t want to spoil it. Just keep in mind that Woods, though a great actor, has that killer inside him. Several months before September 11, he saw some suspicious behavior on a cross-country flight, held on to his silverware in case something happened, and made a complaint that eventually implicated one of the September 11 hijackers. Or something like that.

Pamela Anderson is Getting Divorced and It’s My Fault (a/k/a, I Wanna Be a Cowboy, Baby)

Monday, November 27th, 2006

I just learned from my movie producer, Eric Gladstone - doesn’t it sound cool to refer to another human being as “my movie producer”? - that I have been responsible for yet another marriage break-up. According to TMZ.com, Pamela Anderson announced earlier today that she is divorcing her husband of four months, Kid Rock.

It’s all my fault.

I’ll have to smooth over things with Keith Sexton in the morning

On Sunday night, I had my best-ever finish in a poker tournament, on Full Tilt Poker. In Full Tilt’s weekly $350,000 guarantee, out of 2,279 players, I finished FIFTH. Even though I won a Main Event seat on Full Tilt back in April and have won at least a half-dozen other tournaments on the site, it was the biggest tournament in which I ever made the final table, and my biggest cash.

The Man Who Came to Dinner … and Went Looking for a Strip Joint

Friday, November 24th, 2006

Richard Brodie showed up on Monday so we could, nominally, work on turning his excellent web site, Lion Tales, into a book. Although we got some work done, we spent a lot more time sampling Scottsdale’s best restaurants, smoking cigars, and - though this was not on the agenda until it was too late for me to do anything about it - obsessing over where the town’s naked ladies plied their trade. What I should do about Pokerworks bringing in a younger, more popular blogger would have to be crammed into the schedule on my initiative.

Zigging When Iggy’s Zagging

Friday, November 24th, 2006

In my previous post, I started explaining the threat Iggy poses to my cushy existence. In the few days since, I have calmed down, lost a grand at Full Tilt Poker, consulted various members of the Brain Trust and the Call Girls, and formulated a plan.

This is probably the point in this screed where you expect me to say, I’m honestly thrilled Iggy is here, he’s a great guy, welcome to the team, etc. etc. etc.

The Blogs Brothers (a/k/a, The Challenge)

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

It was with great surprise that I learned that one of my blogging heroes, Iggy, has become my cyberneighbor. I should be thrilled that he has NOT retired his ground-breaking blog and has located right here on Pokerworks.

Should be.

Life at Full Tilt, or “Hasta La Vista, Maybe”

Friday, November 17th, 2006

As I’ve referenced in a few recent posts, I’ve been playing a lot on Full Tilt Poker during the last ten days. With the FTOPS running through the weekend, I’ll be playing a bunch more. Look for me tonight at the Razz event, on Sunday in the Main Event, and probably a bunch of other tournaments.
