Aud Lang Syne

It is my Google hit success story. The last few weeks, I’ve gotten hits every day from that old blog that had the term in it. It is that time of year; people ask questions. Google handles that nicely. Resolutions are a whole other matter.

I’m not a resolution type. I was a professional drinker for a number of years and drinking is work. I have my occasional Manhattan but drinking isn’t a problem. I should take off a few pounds but it isn’t a serious issue. Never used pot or others. Don’t have a wife to beat. All in all, not good blogger material.

But, I do want to send out the hope that the new year brings you success and, more important, satisfaction.

The site here has it’s New Year resolutions and they will be exciting but all I can do at the moment is hint. Be sure to stay tuned!!! It is close to happening.

ADDENDUM:

I played another of the $150 Guaranteed at TonyG last eve. Tony played. Unfortunately, the site was slow. It’d just got an upgrade. Doing a TRACERT made the problem look like it was in the last couple of paths to the site””got timeouts and then the next link without getting the site’s response. Someone else might have been doing upgrades too. Can’t really determine the fault but others were seeing it too.

It wasn’t a big tournament. It was a rebuy though. I watched Tony do the Yo-Yo poker thing with some aggressive play moving him between top and bottom positions frequently. There was a super tight-passive at my table that went through a couple of rebuys without ever trying to define his hand — we all stole from him with impunity. He ended up being both Tony and my nemesis in the end. Tony ended up pushing with a short stack with wired 3’s and got taken out by him. This was after we both made a donkey move. I’d called with 98s in position and the flop gave me the sucker end of the straight. Tony bet the flop and the weak-passive called. Turn was a brick and he bet, was called, and I pushed a pot size bet. Tony called and the passive finally bet. I knew what I was going to see but it was only another 500 to call so I did and saw him flip over that limped AK — not a bad move for anyone; but, a weak-passive standard. I was hurting with the blinds where they were. Played some steals to stay alive and then pushed A2 against the blinds and got called by AJ. Did the suckout with a 2 on the river but still didn’t have a great stack. The very short stack went all in with me holding QJs and I felt I had to call — bad idea. His A-rag hit and I was back in trouble. Ran into a race with 88 against the AK I was expecting and he made aces full and my time was countable in minutes. I bubbled — no disappointment in that; I wasn’t playing for anything less than top 2. Not truly horrid play and certainly not great. The blinds said gamble and that didn’t work out. Not sure how the passive ended up; chip leader when I shut down; I know that — without his knockout of Tony — he had to finish around 4th just to show a small profit because of his rebuys and add-on. Tony congratulated him and he glowed for having taken him out – which did make his rebuys a +EV in all respects.
