Get back on the HORSE that threw you.

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

I keep doing that with the lousy, free $10 from Ultimate Bet. I am not pulling a Chris “Jesus” Ferguson with the money. But, I have managed to double that stake. And, I think I’ve figured out a way to be a bit more consistent. (more…)

RAZZmataz and all that jazz

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

On it’s face, RAZZ is a very simple game. Throw out the flushes and straights. You need to be able to count to ten. You can use your fingers alone for record keeping. Not only is it simple it is the most frustrating game in the poker family. (more…)

Bonus Whoring

Monday, February 26th, 2007

There are arguments about how to clear a bonus quickly and with the least risk. The usual answer is multi-tabling a comfortable limit Hold’em game. I think I have found a much better way. (more…)

Red Beans and Rice and way OT

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

There may be a reason I really like Red Beans and Rice. Prevo is an anglicized version of Prevost. Many folks have family crest and trace back to some royal household. Mine is a bit more unique. As things ‘wind down’, I thought I’d put a bit of fun family history on the net.

Honor Among Thieves

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

Back in the 20’s my Great Aunt Elsie was married to an Irishmen named Jimmy. Jimmy was a dapper guy with a big Packard touring car. My Dad loved him. Luke 10:35-37

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

I don’t object to Born Again Christians. I don’t even mind being around them. I just move my wallet from my hip pocket to a front pocket for safe keeping. (The ADDENDUM is a blog of it’s own about Ring and Tournament play.) (more…)

Know when to walk away; know when to run

Monday, February 19th, 2007

I sat the other day at Full Contact. It was a .25-50 NL table. Had the big blind on the very first hand holding Q3 suited and the flop came QJ3. I slow played nothing. My turn bet was 8 of the 25 I’d sat with. One caller who proceeded to get the 9 he needed on the river for his gutshot straight. I didn’t mind that. What I minded was fattening up a Loose – Aggressive that proceeded to give the table strong preflop bets. (more…)

The State of the Art

Friday, February 16th, 2007

It is expensive when talking about computers. It is illusive when we’re talking about our game. A recent blog detailed a small tournament I played at TonyG with a huge overlay making it attractive. I thought I was State of the Art for that one. So, I went back to see just how big a fluke it was. (more…)

Pimping the Boss

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Tony G. is a poker player, duhh. He’s also an entrepreneurial guy and would have made out great here – the supposed land of opportunity. One of his operations is TonyG Poker and I play[ed] there quite a bit. (more…)
