There may be a reason I really like Red Beans and Rice. Prevo is an anglicized version of Prevost. Many folks have family crest and trace back to some royal household. Mine is a bit more unique. As things ‘wind down’, I thought I’d put a bit of fun family history on the net.
It appears that the line goes back in the U. S. to an Asa Prevo who lived in Maryland before the revolution. My guess is he got there when the English expelled the Acadians from Nova Scotia in 1755. He was here before the revolution according to tax records so I guess I could get in the D.A.R. with a sex change. There isn’t a family crest; but, I guess I can claim a flag:

Evidently, one of his children headed into the Indian Territories for the free land. The family was in Indiana on a farm they’d held for many years just south of where I live today. Prevo clans aren’t big travelers; it seems to take the Redcoats or free land to get us to move around.
My great grandmother was described as a wiry little thing that liked to sit on the front porch smoking a corn cob pipe. There is an interesting other family member that was evidently one of her local kin’s offspring. He is described as a gentle, simple fellow with a pelt like a golden retriever. My grandfather had less distinguishing features, thankfully. He was about 5′ 6
