BetonSports plead to a “pattern of racketeering acts”. The plea encompasses a variety of activities, including mail and wire fraud, operating an illegal gambling business, and money-laundering.

The Feds have their fink. BetonSports will cooperate against the nine other defendants which include David Carruthers, founder Gary Stephen Kaplan and the other nine co-defendants.

Carruthers was a prominent proponent of online wagering and had put a target on his chest for the Feds to go after.

The remaining wild card is the EU and the WTO. The company has cut its losses and will fold. Carruthers got the Judge in the case to allow introducing that evidence into his trial. It is about the only lifeline he has left in the case.

There is a virus/trojan out there that is capturing info and revising screens when you try to log onto legitimate sites. It appears to ask for additional security information. Because you instigated the logon, you could be easily coerced into providing unknown parties with personal info.

If you see a message that includes: We Have Noticed An Increasing Fraudulent Activity Recently you have the virus.

Included in captured sites are banking sites, ebay and paypal. Be careful with your poker sites. None are included at this point but would make an excellent target.
